Why not just rename the new forums to something less divisive, like: Conformation Showing and Sport Enthusiasts.

Otherwise if you are catering to the weakest temperaments amongst us, you might as well add a third category: the Rainbow GSD, that way all the Liver and Blues and Pandas can have a bash-free soap box, too.

I suppose we need a category for DDR bloodlines, since neither working nor show adequately fits.  What was the verdict for the ASL?  Is this considered "breed profiling"?  Is that really what this forum's administration wants to do, as politically INcorrect as it seems?  It only divides us further, confirming the idea that we have two separate, non-unified dreams.  And that they should be separated officially, by name as they are by blood.

Hey Beetree I like that better than show and work. Comformation and Sport--maybe we could get that!!!!!!
Not sure about the Raionbow dogs tho..............that might be inviting just a little too many problems.............

I think heated discussions about the split at least bring up good and bad points about both.  Sometimes is amazes me that people keeping such a strong breed of dog can be so thin skinned.  As long as a poster is not being personally attacked (and this is where moderation should kick in, WAY before it gets out of hand), this is the way many learn about the history and future of the breed as a whole.

Vonissk, thanks.....LOL, and the Rainbow comment was me being my cheeky self, just to make a point.........

Daryl, explain how the lines are separated "by blood" ?

I'd have thought that most WL people would be jumping at the chance to not have to read posts about SL's.

by Blitzen on 06 October 2011 - 13:10

For me, it's not about being "thin skinned"; it's about having the opportunity to have a decent, polite, adult SL discussion without being sidetracked by snide comments about SL's and their lack of merit. It gets hard to ignore after a time and it's usually the same people who do it. It drives away sincere well mannered people from the forum and sometimes even the breed. Most WL people I know have too many manners to act that way.

Well I did not read the whole 6pages bc I just don't have the time, but the mods are probably sitting back right now and thinking hmm and they wonder why we gave them seperate forms.  Everybody is arguing about the fact that they said you argue too much???  It' pretty simple if you want to use the new forums use them, if you don't stay put right where you are.  How hard is this not everything is rocket science.

Blitzen, the showlines are several generations removed from workinglines.  That to me is seperation by blood.  It takes no more than that to develop a new breed, it takes no more generations to selectively alter characteristics of a genepool in a dramatic way (i.e., silver fox experiments).  The non-intermingling of genetic material over the course of several generations is a "seperation of blood".  Maybe not from a species perspective, but it is for a breed.

I recall a couple recent SL threads that drew a great gathering and carried on for a at least a dozen pages unmolested.  Don't see what the problem is that moderation wouldn't fix should a problem arise.

I'm sure most people think their dog is the cat's ass.

But if you post a picture and ask for comments, then you must expect some constructive posts. Are we going to say please don't comment unless you own a Showline, it's not a perfect world? LMAO

My God grow a set and let people say what they think.

On the other hand if someone is just a total shithead let the Mods deal with them. Simple enough.

I don't know why the mods just don't blatantly say if you personally attack people you will be warned, punished and eventually banned. End of problem IMO.
