EDD in Afgan, You’ve misread my posts.. I did not make a general statement towards the “working lines” I’ve simply said that it’s for the best interests not to mix a cat in with high drive working dogs, which means either show lines (yes! Theirs actually some with very high drives) and working lines, both bloodlines.

MOLLY: I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU MUCH, BUT YOUR ENTIRE POST IS CORRECT, I DO AGREE WITH EVERY WORD!!!

Did you read and sign the purchase agreement on his website? It clearly states:A) Buyer may, within 72 hours of receiving the dog into his/her possession, return the dog to seller in the same condition delivered, without question. Buyer will be subject to a restock fee of 25% of the dog's purchase price. The cost and related expenses of returning the dog to seller's place of business shall be buyer's sole obligation. If buyer decides not to take delivery of the dog the re-stock fee still applies as a non-refundable deposit. If you didn't you might have options, but you have shared responsibility for the cat's death. I think the right thing for Kraftwerk would have been to fully refund and sell the dog to someone with more expeirence but I don't hold a Breeder,Kennel,Broker or dog responsible. It is truly the handlers fault no matter their skill level. Tracy

Diana, I know how you feel. I love my cats. I have 2 cats and a 4yr old GSD and a Puppy on the way. How OLD is your GSD? I have never had a problem introducing cats and dogs, but I have never let them work it our for themselves. Close monitoring is a must. Don't blame yourself.

OMG, ok diana, I didn't mean to get on your bad side, what I meant by the "test run" was that you just don't let a new dog in a new enviroment walk around like it's been there it's whole life. I was just trying to respond to your post in a civilized manner but you clearly aren't looking for an answer, just people to agree with you and give you sympathy. Again sorry about your cat, it must have been a great pet and I couldn't imagine losing my pup. I hope you find a dog more suitable for you. I just hope you don't make the same mistake twice. Goodbye. Daniel Flores

I'm so sorry about your loss! I love cats too. I have a GS whom I think has too much prey drive - she has killed (by shaking to death) several wild animals. I am afraid to get a cat and I am concerned about stray cats walking around. This all leads me a bit astray, but I think all this begs the question (again): Why do we insist on such overweening "drive"? Why is so much emphasis apparently on Schutzhund and protection/attack work, to the point of hard-wiring attack mode (even if "just for fun") so things could get out of control? The dog is supposed to be a HERDING dog. Herding dogs NEED prey drive BUT they CANNOT KILL THE SHEEP!

Daniel F How do you know what I'm looking for?

by Diana7788 on 15 May 2006 - 20:05

Trace 755 as a matter of fact, WC told me his "restocking fee" applied to "frivolous" purchasers who returned the dog for some dumb reason, like not matching the wallpaper. It would not apply to me, because i was a serious purchaser. I didn't have experience or knowledge--that's what I paid WC for, expert advice. he told me let them work it out! Our society functions {quite smoothly most of the time} on consumers paying experts for products and/or advice, medical, legal, etc. What is so remarkable in the concept of it not working at times, such as this one? Why would you be so quick to point the finger of blame at me when you don't even know all the facts or me!! I find this remarkable! Diana

Diana, My post above was not directed at you personally but responding to Blitzen's comments. You make mention numerous times that no one knows the facts. Perhaps you would be kind enough to post all the facts so those that wish to participate in the discussion can do so with all the facts. There are some interesting points to consider.... Usually when one hires or pays for expert knowledge or professional services, they hire an expert or professional to represent their interest. When considering a lawyer, generally one does not hire the opposing parties lawyer to protect their interest. The professional opinion you solicit should be from one that represents you and not the product you are buying. Dogs and a few other animals have been known to attack cats. In one's research or from life's lessons, one should realize this. Obviously there was some reailzation as the question was asked. To rely on an answer that goes against what one should know may not be sufficient to condem another. Think of some examples. Mr. Pet Store owner. I have some nice goldfish in my tank at home. I sure like that big fish for sale in this tank. Will he eat my little fish? Or I have some nice pet mice, I think that's a pretty snake. Will he eat my mice? Some things may be too obvious to rely on information to the contrary. But lets not speculate. Please offer all the information relevent so comments and the discussion can continue with all the information available.
