Defend is safe for pregnant and lactating females and very young puppies... and unless something has changed in Frontline, that would concern me because I think not only the packaging states it's not to be used but I called the company when it first came out and they told me it wasn't safe.. I will check my newest packages because that would be great - I keep Defend on hand for that reason.... but would be thrilled to just keep frontlining!!

All of these meds can damage liver, pancrea or any elimination organ,,,,,we use sparingly...Ivermec is in Heartguard....It is used by the dosage and dont go over it....I use it only on gsd....I order mine from  www.dog.com  that akc sent me....cheaper  or  www.revivalanimal.com

You dont inject it, you draw it out of the bottle with needle and take off needle , squirt into back of mouth, quickly and give a piece of meat or cheese, so they wont spit it out.....I do not suggest putting in food...you never know for sure it gets eaten,,,it may end up on bowl edge and never all of it get into the dogs system.....

Been using it for 18 years .....my vet gives me the dosage as the vendor is not allowed to even sell it to you for a dog....you dont tell him ,when you go, especially  some Tractor Supply stores....they have been warned by the makers of Ivermec , that dog people use it,,,and they cant tell you or reccommend it...so beware before you go,,,,just go buy it and let your vet tell you how much to give....Dermedec mange or Red mange is treated sometimes using a dosage that can harm the dogs reproductive system....or use a natural method and take longer to clear. it....better on dog.....

I use advantage when I can get it,,,, a lot of vets have quit selling advantage....I think it works better, but Frontline plus has done a pretty good job....none of the other name brands work as well, waste of money........

I buy FL Plus off ebay, and have for years, but I'm a bit selective about which countries I buy from.  I'll buy FL Plus from anywhere in North America but if I see some cheap stuff from Thailand or China, then I don't bid.  I have "heard" that there are many scams out there where people create fakes of real meds, both human and animal.  I admit I don't know the validity of such claims.  However, there's only a few $$ difference in price between sellers in North America and the rest of the world, so I personally choose to do my business within countries that have strict regulations and penalties for fraud and product tampering.

Heartguard / Interceptor is prescription only so I can't get through ebay.  I use 800 Pet Meds web site.  Has anyone had any bad experiences with this biz?   Would love to know if they've ever done shady deals.

birdy or yellowrose--- im a little confused with so much info...what is Ivermec used for?--heartworm or fleas? we live in a dairy farm parish--tons of feed/tractor supply stores...so anything i can buy from there rather than from the vet would help tons...

The correct dosage for Ivomec given to me by vet and confirmed by many other vets is as follows;

1/10 of cc for every 10 lbs.

Ex:100 lb dog would recieve 1cc
