I was looking at my sieger book and I noticed that a lot of top dogs are not owned by the breeders that bred them. I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Crap shoot when picking the pup out of the litter that is going to be the ONE to excel.
Only allowed a certain numbr of dogs where they live.

Dont be fooled by the owners name on paper. That doesn't always mean who owns the dog. Some dogs are owned by others on paper only when the breeder/judge actually still owns the dog . this happens alot in Europe. Its true you can't keep them all and you also can't pick the best pup all the time.. Some folks just get lucky.

I would venture to say that imprinting and training has a wee bit to do with which pup, ultimately, becomes the "best" of the litter as well.

Breeders are forever trading dogs/breedings in Germany.

The BEST dogs aren't always the VA1. That's usually just the dog that looks nice in the ring.

A good breeder with a prospective top litter would like to bring his pups to top trainers/handlers to achieve his goal of giving his kennel name Fame... I good trainer in turn don't bother himself in breeding and would rather build himself -up so that top kennel owners/judges will bring their pups to him...
