Mystere

Is the sire Victoria's dog, or one she co-owns? Perhaps the co-owner could be of assistance, if there is one.

by Brady on 18 February 2008 - 16:02

Sire - Rico vom Altenberger

Dam - Jenske van de Lentfert Hoeve.

Jenske is for sale on her website the last time we "visited".  She gave us his date of birth as May 8th.

Brady, I have helped people get AKC papers and you have all you need to do that. Send AKC a cover letter explaining the entire situation and include a copy of the judgement and a copy of your sales agreement and all correspondence with Driggs including  that regarding dyeing the feet and they will order Driggs to give you the papers.  Also copy Driggs on all your correspondence to AKC and indicate that on you cover letter to AKC. AKC's stand is this - the papers belong to the dog and must go with the dog when it is transferred  unless otherwise indicated in writing.  All transfers of all AKC registered or registerable dogs must be recorded in writing and sent with the dog.

When an argument about the breeder withholding papers comes up, the first thing the AKC wants to see is a judgement that indicates who has the dog in their possession. I think your judgment will satify that and you should get those papers. If the dog has already been registered by Driggs, AKC will also allow you to void that name and use the name you want. Don't let her get away with anything.

Thanks for the information!  We will get a letter to the AKC this week.

Super info Blitzen! Its so simple no wonder I never thought of it! I do wonder if the AKC will issue papers if the litter hasn't  been AKC registered, born from foreign parents, breeding made overseas? I don't remember who the parents were represented as being. Is it possible to look up whether an imported dog has been issued AKC reg. anywhere?

I'm learning a LOT from this thread!

Thanks guys

Shelley, you can look up AKC numbers by name at the above link.

Shelley, I'm not sure how AKC would handle that situation, I suspect it would be a lot more difficult for Brady if that were the case and he may never get his dog registered unless the SV  steps in.  My experiences have only been with AKC registerable dogs. If that is the case and the papers are not available and Brady wants to do some with the pup at an AKC event, he can apply for a ILP number.

Let me get this straight. she is willing to doctor a dogs fur and take your money in order to sell you a show dog. Yet has qualms about giving you papers unless you get the dog fixed? I'm assuming she didn't care about you getting the dog fixed when it was a matter of white socks? But now it's crucially important because you sue her?

Incredible.

I wonder if that dye comes off with soap and water?

I used to work with potassium permanganate in the lab.  It's been a few years (since 2000), but from my recollection when I got even a little on my hands, I was instantly burned, and colored for a week plus.  We collected all that we used or mixed up and gave it to a hazardous waste disposal company at the end of each school year.  NASTY stuff!
