Hi all,

You have probably all noticed the aesthetic changes I have been doing.  I am trying to make it a bit friendlier for the newcomer (It shouted "learning curve" for the first-timer).

I will be re-arranging the order of the navigational links  (so get ready to re-learn your favorite shortcuts )

I have been googling around for logo design companies and finally found one that does logos that I truly like and that have good prices ( www.biz-logo.com )  and bought a silver package from them.  I hope and believe that they are able to create something nice for the site.

I will post the sketches I like and get your opinion .

I am planning on making this forum a general cross-breed forum and creating seperate "US", "showline" "working dog" forums.  Let me know if you think its a good/bad idea.

Regards to you all
Oli

Oli,

What do you mean by a general cross-breed forum ? I doubt if very many of us are interested in other breeds.

Oli, Once again thank you for all your hardwork.

I like the buttons for PM box etc. The folders at the beginnings of threads and the little pink and blue sex symbols by dogs pictures not so much. Find both distracting AND for those of us struggling with older computers its just more useless images for the computer to download and fill up theTIF files too fast. The old blue and pink backgrounds worked better with less distraction.

What I would love to see is that when you pull up an individual pedigree if there was a way by highlighting, coloring or underlining to show if there was any data in the progeny and progeny picture listings BEFORE you clicked on them. Would save me a whole lot of time ( again old computer slow to load) when researching. Even better if this was available in the listings when doing a name search so if I search a kennel name ex. Batu I could immediately see if an individual had progeny or pictures of progeny . Also since we're in wish land when you pull up a progeny or sibling list any way it could pick up the titles and/or hip status of each dog. Would give a great overview of what the  litter produced So it would show

V Sample dog v.d. Oli Sch 3 a normal hips elbows normal

SG Littermate v.d Oli  BH nochzuglassen

I like the idea of transitioning to a forum format vs the messagelist(good posts get lost behind too quickly sometimes). Agree with Louise no other breeds but perhaps you meant to divide by American, German, Czech DDR Working Agility Herding etc? If truly a forum format might work but would like to also have a place where could look at all new posts so we don't get too separated off in our own worlds. Perhaps also a place to archive rally good posts and or the FAQ type of posts ( i.e my dog has HD  the world has come crashing down what do I do  and we reassure that dogs do and can live long lives often w/o pain and make suggestions re diet, training and exercise).  Thanks again for all your hard work.

the idea of a cross-breed forum was for posts that are generally not breed-specific.   Upcoming shows, heatlh issues,  training questions, and so forth.   More of a "General talk" <-> "Breed Specific" etc.   New messages and forum search would include all,  (plus a new page to show all new posts cross-forum.).  Haven't thought it all the way through though.   Just felt that I needed to split the messageboard for different topics.

the blue/pink icons are very small and should only correspond to about 1% of a whole page, maybe I will tint the lower half pink and the upper half blue, see if that helps.

I already added (took me about 15 minutes) the feature of showing if progeny/siblings etc, have any entries.

Regards

Oli

Oli, I always appreciate everything that you do for us and the world with this site. I have one (1) request, when you have some time and that is to add an elbow grading section just you have for the hips. I say this because the elbow examinations are now required by the S.V..

It's not a big deal-just thought I would ask.

Best Regards,

Bob-O

And once again, Thanks Oli.

I was wondering..  Would it be possible to have a way to go to the first unread message in a thread?  I've seen that other places.  It would be nice, expecially on the active threads it would make it much easier to find where you last read.

And what Bob-O mentioned would be nice too if possible...

Oli, thanks for coming up with the continuous improvements to the web site!  It just keeps getting more snazzy all the time.

I like the idea of having different categories in the discussion forum.  That should help make it easier for folks to find a topic of interest instead of having to wade through pages of everything.

The site's a good tool, despite all the drama.  LOL.  Thanks again, Oli!

Yvette
