British Sieger 2008 Hardback Book ...4th July update.. - Page 1

I am posting here on the main message board as this site connects with many of the UK (and W.W)  GSD fraternity who may not frequent other parts of the Internet and I dont want this info missed by anyone interested.

There will be only 150 copies of the publication in the first year and we have well over 100 copies already reserved / pre booked . Note : This does not include many of the advertisers. If you have advertised and  wish a copy reserved , please email me at fardogart@btinternet.com or I cannot guarantee you a copy despite your advertisements ..Likewise if you are not an advertiser but wish a copy time is running out . 

More printed copies would have been an ideal option but printing is just too expensive in these early days of the project. We need to keep the costs down for buyers and as the price to buyers will be way less than the gross cost from printers we cannot absorb the addditional losses that would be incured by increasing the copies available.

When the 150 copies are gone they are truly gone.

My thanks also to all at Leicestershire show  who viewed the sample book and gave their feedback and extremely positive support.

I cant wait for this book to be ready.

If the sample book is anything to go by it will be GRRREAT.

Ours is booked already,money well spent and you cant say that about many things these days.

This BRITISH SIEGER BOOK is a very exciting project for our breed here in the UK; it should be well supported by all GSD enthusiasts with advertisements and in purchasing the BOOK. I hope its success will inspire the GSD Breed Clubs, particularly our Premier Breed Clubs to seriously explore other ways of regenerating interest, excitement and enthusiasm in our GSD Show scene. It may be useful to start with organising a conference of current exhibitors along with newcomers to our sport and having some "brainstorming sessions" - the answers to any regeneration of our sport will not come out of thin air. The current "self interest" of individuals, groups, cliques, and of some breed clubs will surely accelerate its demise.

Another point to note is that initial deposits are due by the end of July  and the balance of advert fees payable by the end of September .Adverts will have to be paid in full by the end of September before the British Sieger Event  or the publication cannot and will not go ahead. This would be extremely disappointing for all concened.

The advertising monies will be a major contributary factor in funding the payment of the printer for the books . The printer will need to be paid before the books are made.

Lkewise to those wishing adverts designed for them , note the deadlines previously given..Time is marching on and all adverts need to be completed before the event.This is because all time after the event will be used to complete and design the format and bulk of the book in relation to the actual event and dogs entered. No adverts will be worked on after this time.

 If you are submitting your own adverts in completed form  ensure the advets meet the necessary print requirements . If being designed "in house" please dont leave it till the last minute, the more time I have the better. Advert design deadlines are as important and are final because they have to be to keep within the carefully planned time framed. We want the books made and out before 2009!..

Only 150 copies? That doesn't seem like very good value for money for the advertisers:(

Not even one copy per show entry, and thats just amongst the people who already know of the advertisers.

Just my own opinion of course....................

My thanks to all who have emailed and telephoned in the last 48 hours with regards adverts and books etc .Things are definitely progressing forwards which is exciting and the support shown phenomenal. The foundations for next year and the years to follow are being well and truly laid thanks to the support being given and as such the future of this publication is indeed a rosey one.
