You're correct, Blitzen. 1979 to be exact: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/497666.html

Some good German dogs in his pedigree. You don't see that very often these days!

Here's some pics of Dallas (Kismet's Sight for Sore Eyes)

Dallas herding: NICE movement!

My first two AKC champions, Ch Tucker Hill's Oracle and his sable sister Ch Tucker Hill's Opel 'N' Mink UD, were born in 12/67 and were co-bred by Cappy Pottle and Jean Stevens--several years before Gloria Birch (the "Covy" hyphenation in the kennel name--as Covy was the call name of Ch Kovaya's Contessa) moved from to California from Texas.

These guys, sired by Ch Santana's Man O'War (a son of Bernd von Kallengarten) ex Melody of Tucker Hill (a daughter of Ch Ulk Wikingerblut), are not included on the PDB or the CTH website. They were 3x linebred Rolf/Rosel Osnabrückerland in the 5 generation.

Oracle won a Dog World Award for his obedience scores, was twice Highest Scoring Champion at the GSDCA National Specialty, was the cover dog on Jan Bennett's The New Complete German Shepherd, and was included in my Riesenblut Kennel write-up in Susan Barwig's The German Shepherd Book. He finished his AKC championship at 20 months of age with points from both all-breed and specialty shows.

The first time that Mink was shown in Open Bitches at the 1969 GSDCA National, she place second in a class of 55! She live until past past the age of 15!

A lot of history and memories here--times have really changed in the past 40 years!

Looks like FerrumGSD's has been at it again, Louise! Beware: she has a set of the red books, and knows how to use them!   She also loves doing pedigrees...says it's more fun than Sudoku!  Opal's not in the PDB yet, though.  (And that's a LOT of linebreeding!)

OT, but relevant to the "Bottleneck" thread: I just realized Ursus is linebred SIX time on Palme v. Wildsteigerland, and four times on Xavier v Arminius! Which just helps to prove the point that thread was trying to make...

Louise, as I have told you many, many times, you really need to write a book or at least a series of articles on the evolution of the breed in the US.  Your knowledge should be shared with those who are asute enough to understand the value of learning from the past.  It's so easy to say - Am lines are garbage, but some don't seem to see that many of the imports are heading down the same path of destruction. How could learning from the triumphs and defeats of others be anything other than a benefit to the breeders of the present and future?

My old dogs are not the business of anyone. So, let her dredge up this ancient photo:
