Zamp represent the modern breed but Timo represent the old type which was more like the original.

I too always thought Uzi was a beautiful dog. Maybe not my ideal as I prefer the older style German dogs like Dingo, but still a very excellent representative of the American GSD.  The only Amercan GSD I liked a little better was Dallas and I've seen many of the big winners of the past - great  dogs like Hatter, Gilligan's Island, Mystique.  Uzi had that look of eagles, didn't he? His owner told me he died peacefully in his yard while lying under his favorite tree.  She thought he was asleep. She couldn't talk about it for months and I'll bet it still chokes her up to think about it.

There is our common bond - our unconditional love of our dogs, imports or Amlines doesn't really matter much in the big picture.

I know what your all talking about, but I would differ with what I consider the perfect GSD.

I Really liked Dallas too for his overall quality as a GSD.  In fact i have 2 grand daughters of him at home. I would say I love them equally but Uzi had more extended gait than Dallas..

Two very good Am. Bred GSD.

I'm not too good with the working lines but this dog in Mahon picture look like a very nice one!!( I would have stack him a little bit better thought!)

IMO Timo is a beautiful dog. He's just too overdone for my tastes. He isn't athletic looking enough for me and I'm not nuts over his topline. Still he's the modern day GSD and I can see where he would be a very popular dog with many.  I think Silbersee has a very lovely sable Timo daughter I'd like to own. I'd prefer to see a return to the more athletic and agile looking imported showline GSD's, but that's just me and it's up to the judges for the most part to decide what type is correct.  Breeders actually have very little input into that. BTW I'm pretty sure Timo is 100% showlines in spite of being sable

OK... @ the definate risk o' bein' totally sappy...

The perfect Shepherd is the one who owns you... and gives his soul back to you.

any size

any shape

any color

It's the HEART of the Shepherd that is perfect....

I once told an obedience student that if she ever was owned by a Shepherd she'd never want any other breed. A year later I gave her a 4 month old puppy... and she finally understood.  All the competition, both in sport and conformation is great, but it's that bond which is why we're all owned by German Shepherds...

*gettin offa the soapbox*

I'm with you, Windwalker. Not sappy at all, anyone who thnks so should have a chiapet instead of a GSD.  I've had a lot of dogs over the years and my first GSD was a whole new experience. I found the breed more needy than most, but they do get under one's skin to the point that when I lost my first I wasn't sure I was going to survive myself.
