Hi Saoa guess we just can't have a meeting of the mind then :o). IMO - all the time and effort and paperwork and dollars it takes to do all this, it is still easier to hop on a plane yourself, or send someone you can trust. More efficient IMO anyways. Cheers.

I have to agree with Daniela. If you are willing to buy a dog in that price range, pick him up personally or send somebody you trust. Saoa, who will pay for the expenses (shipping, vet, etc.), if the deal falls through? Just food for thought, Chris

Hello, there are so many variables when purchasing overseas, it is best to either purchase at home or fly to inspect the animal. I agree with Daniella, I always thought that a dog needed to be somewhat healthy to fly as they do need a health certificate. Well my phylosophy was just blown out of the water when I just received a 1 1/2 year old GSD with a 3/6 heart murmur. There is no way the vet did not know this dog had this condition when they signed the health certificate. Plus she was suppose to be bred which she was not. There is no way around the unethical GSD people out for a buck. Of course the seller doesnt want her back so now I am saddled with a dog I paid my hard earned money for and must make the decisions for her future that I dont want to make. The seller is suppose to be working on a replacement but Im not so sure it going very well. This purchase has been a nightmare from the start and I am not so sure I am going to come out the winner. Should have purchased at home instead of overseas. Just my thoughts on this subject. Jan

In investigating the possibilities of my own lawsuit concerning a situation like yours in which I was taken. I have discovered that most states are cracking down on Internet fraud. Part of the consequences of a conviction for this crime is a restitution order, which would refund your money AND give the offender a criminal record which you could then broadcast far and wide with no repercussions of liable or slander, since those only apply when the accusations are false or cannot be proven. This would seriously cut down on the amount of income available to the criminal, and subsequent crimes would have more serious consequences as well. Call the Prosecutor Attorney's Office in the state in which the crime occurred, and ask to speak to the Internet Fraud Department. It sounds like you have more than enough evidence to have a case. Any other persons who have likewise been victimized should join you in contacting the PA Office. This would include the other person who was victimized that you mentioned, if you know how to contact him. I hope I was able to help.

Thanks, do you know what kind of time frame there is to file the complaint. I would like to give this seller every chance to make this sale right. I do plan on blowing this wide open if she doesnt and will have no problem listing names as I believe this is the only way to stop it. For now I must give her the time she requires to find another bitch as a replacement. I have talked with her and it sounds like she is going to honor the sale and find a replacement. I sure hope so as I really dont like to get nasty. Thanks for everything Jan

I don't remember the time frame, I think it was a matter of years. There is time to get it done, if you want to do it. Sorry about the double post, as it didn't seem to go through the first time.

That's what they count on Charlie, people like you and me chalking it off to being "just one of those things". We enable them to continue status quo. Not saying that's not the common sense approach, why throw good money after bad, but my hope is that one of these days they are going to screw the wrong person and aren't going to wiggle out of it so easily. In the meantime, people on this list can make life just a miserable for them as they possibly can but must stay within the bourdary of the law.

I agree with you both here...it is very difficult to bring these scammers to justice.  I wanted to add a footnote.  There are many folks advertising here on this database and other database forums that seem to be the nicest and most knowledgable of dog people...who are long time posters to this and other databases.  By familiarity they gain your trust. You must always do your research...One such person scammed me and others for Large amounts of money, and continues to do so without remorse.

She is not a US citizen and resides in Canada, yet is a German born person who knows all the ins and outs of the SV and their requirements for importing and registration of dogs.  She has been extremely diligent to protect herself in the way having only Internet based phone, PO box which of which she uses their physical address as her own to seem as though she has a permanent location (has used this address for over a decade yet has NEVER lived there).  I have dedicated a page on my website solely to the purpose of warning others about her fraudulent dog sales and deliberate scams, which you can read about here...

There are many others who have been scammed by this person.
She is a WOLF in sheep's (or should I say GSD"S) clothing.
I hope my page will defer a few from her grasp.  Definately a seller that has earned the caution BUYER BEWARE !!

I contacted this same guy. He listed more than 1 dog (different ads.) I was in Lexington at the NASS and showed several people the ad. Fantastic looking bitch for $2500.00 or so. I got in touch, told him I wanted the bitch and would fly down to pick her up when I got home from NASS. Never heard back from him with his info.

Guys, if you can afford $2000 plus for a dog, you can certainly afford to go get the dog. Unless you are dealing with someone with an impeccable reputation, it is the only smart way to do business.

And while you are at it, get the papers when you hand over the money.

Rik
