Days like this I really start to question my sanity.... I was feeling pretty good about the progress I've been making.  Mind you I am a relatively inexperienced working dog handler with a young high caliber dog and feel we are both learning a lot and doing well with each other.  So today at club training was the day the poop hit the proverbially fan....  Not one huge mess up but just a string of errors that made us look like a soup sandwich.  Nothing "terminal" just abunch of really crappy junk...  but I'm wrapping up my pity party with less then a 1/2 bottle of wine left  & moving forward I have a great lesson plan for me and my girl.  I suppose it is just the nature of the beast, when things are going good you go through to motions but until you have those big effin eff ups how else do you get the opportunity to proof and generalize behaviors....? I'm not looking for sympathy or solutions just venting/sharing with all you other crazy dog folks my terrible horrible no good very bad EXCELLENT training day....

People and dogs have bad days. Let it go and be positive the next time out. The most important thing is that you and your dog are enjoying training. If not why do it?

germanguy-  TRUE, so very very very true

B. Anderson-  also true, and believe me I've had that dialogue with myself on more then one occasion.  The answer, it's in my blood, I can't  even begin to imagine my life without it.

We all have bad days from time to time.  If nothing else, they get our attention, get us thinking about our training methods and often produce growth and/or advancement in our skills and learning.  You and your girl must have grown by leaps & bounds, keep up the good work and always wear a smile.  Always strive to be the most interesting person and/or thing in your dogs life and they will always look to you and/or keep coming back to you for more. :o)

Fuggetaboudit! There is no nice, straight learning curve when it comes to dog training. German guy is EXACTLY RIGHT.
