So, inform, us, Randy--WHICH USA-sanctioned trial did Ronaldo enter and trial in for a qualifying score?  Which regional was Ronaldo entered in to satisfy the "regional participation" requirment?  If you cannot or will not answer those questions, don't bother to respond at all.

That's twice Randy.   Answer rhe questions (deriving from you rown actions, btw).  Put up, or shut up!

Of COURSE I am right MS. Nia. I took the trouble to contact Raino Flugge BEFORE I entered both Ronaldo and Carol “T”) in a trial in Ontario in July, intending to earn qualifying scores and go for Canadian Universal Sieger in August. He assured me we could enter.

I did indeed have a plan for qualifying in the US, with a regional and a club trial picked out in the Midwest because we had planned to go train with Steve Miller for a few weeks right afte the Canadin Sieger Show. I just didn’t bother to publish the plans, mostly because its nobody else’s business, but partly because I really didn’t need unnecessary pressure from people like YOU! The entry forms are still on my desk. Steve even came out here and helped me with training for awhile, excited about our chances as I was. (God bless that man, one of my olds and dearest friends :-)

Unfortunately, the trial in Ontario didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. The temperature was brutal, 90+F, with choking humidity even first thing in the morning, when it was forecast for mid-70’s. Carol was the only dog that passed tracking (93 pts., hard won)  while the rest of the entrants failed with single digits. Then it got HOT. Both dogs suffered in the heat later, as did the entire field. T managed to turn in a pathetic 74 pts. in B, then cracked a molar in C, failed to out for the first time in his 8 yrs. Too bad for Shelley. Ronaldo, with his thick, beautiful coat (T was naked by comparison) had to be iced down between B and C, clearly in distress. It was a bad day for everybody. All any of us, entrants and organizers could do was make a few jokes, bitch about the weather, and try not to get too depressed. Only some of the BH’s the day before passed the trial.

(To be continued...)

ROFLMAO!  That would go a LOOOOOOOONG way toward bringing the declaration for  USA Universal Sieger to fruitiion, wouldn't it?    Cute attempt at verbal leger de main, but the question is, and has been,  about the declaration for USA Universal Sieger.

I guess if you have  a HOT dog it is a lot easier and way less expensive to meet the requirements for Universal Sieger.

Dee,

Or even a dog that has been worked regularly  and trialed since achieving a Sch 3 in a land far, far away...

I did not charge for training Ronaldo. Neither did Steve. We did it because we believed in the dog. PERIOD. All monies spent went for travel expenses. I put a lot of miles on the rigs with two trips to Canada and we were only a couple of months into the program. Add a trip or two to the Midwest, trial costs to continue the effort, and oh yes, a nice expensive trip to Texas, and we were way over budget, pure and simple. I do think the V-A 2 in Canada was a better use of funds than trying to win Universal Sieger in Texas, although I sincerely believe Ronaldo had a good chance of winning and so do a lot of other people whose opinions I respect.

It WAS hard to ignore all your efforts to bring us out of the closet, post periodical photos of our progress in training, brag about what a nice dog Ronaldo is and how thrilled I was to be trusted with such a wonderful dog. I was very proud of Ronaldo’s progress, despite the fiasco in Ontario. He is truly a great dog and it was my privledge to train him for the time that I did.

I suspect nearly everyone else who let themselves in for your curb-side criticism by declaring for U/S truly intended on continuing to Texas when they started. They sure as HELL didn’t do it for the money! So, Ms. Know-It-All, next time YOU decide to take a couple of dogs who have been out of serious training for a few years and get them ready for National events, PLEASE keep us all updated on your plans and progress. No pressure, of course.  I’ll be sitting on the edge of my computer chair, popcorn at the ready.

Yours in the sport and the breed,

SS

BTW: I am told that the GSDCA-WDA Universal Sieger Program is back on the table for next year. (Wrong again Ms. Nia.) Maybe its time to start doing your homework before you get into everybody else's business. Better yet, get out and train/title/show some dogs instead of beating the people who ARE out doing that to death on this board.

Simply more evasion.   <sigh>   As for bringing you "out of the closet"--do you mean finally admitting that NO effort was (or was ever going to be) made to make Universal Sieger anything more than a flat declaration?   That was no effort on my part.   But, pointing out that the Emperor is butt-naked, without, I might add, resorting to childish name-calling, is my pleasure!

I wouldn't "take a couple of dogs who have been out of serious training for a few years " period, for anything.

I am sorry that this thread got side-tracked to discussion of another declarant.

It was meant to be a thread of well-wishes to Karen and Ule, who are pursuing the Universal Siege title this weekend at the Regional Championship in Wisconsin.   I would like to bring it back to that.  Karen has worked hard to get Ule back into trial-field readiness after having a litter of puppies.  Co-owner Mary D also worked hard to get Ule back into physical shape after whelping.  They are to be commended for their efforts.

I wish Karen and Ule well this weekend and look forward to seeing them on the field in Texas at the Naitonals!!

Shelley,

You said, " I liked the GSDCA-WDA and GSSCCC idea of holding the entire competition at the same place on the same long weekend. "

My response: "WDA used to hold a specific show with a trial that it called the Universal Sieger--that was discontinued some years ago.

So, when read honestly, my response and statement is entirely accurate. I was discussing what WAS, as were YOU.  ""
" On the table for next year" is NOT what is now, nor is it an honest reference to what either of us posted.

If you have to result to such disingenuousnes and name-calling, Shelley, perhaps you need to examine WHY!

Why not start another thread to rationalize the deceit and leave this one to what it was intended for--kudos to Karen ?
