I don't remember where I saw or heard that figure of $2k, most likely on TV. Frankly it sounded low to me. At first we were told that it would cost every man, woman, and child in this country over $3K. The numbers vary as much as the politicians. How do you know when they're lying? Their lips are moving.

As a person who is hoping to sell her home, downsize and move to a warmer climate in Dec 2010, I understand the housing dilema only too well. On the upside I have been thinking for well over a year now that my own property was valued at a lot more than fair market value. I am selfish, I don't want to pay for Wall Street greed, White House stupidity or lose money on my home sale. I prefer to make my own mistakes

Maybe I have Fuzzy math, but if we are talking every man, woman and child, that is a little over 300 million people.  What is 700 billion divided by 300 million?  So it's gonna be a one time tax for $2333 to everyone, even children?

I loved the Lethal Weapon series.  You were awsome and so was Danny Glover and Joe Pesci.

Give me factual proof that this is true and accurate.  I don't want a quote from some dead guy that can be misconstrued however one likes.

With figures ranging anywhere from 700B to a trillion or more, how can anyone even make an educated guess as to how much this fiasco is going to cost each taxpayer?  I'm not a millionaire myself, I tend to think of money in terms of thousand, not millions. $2k is the minimum I've heard so that's the figure I'll stick with for now. Maybe that's just our payback figure for the first year? I expect that amount will rise by next  year at this time. I don't want to pay even one single dollar to help Wall Street get back on their feet if they can do it on their own by losing their ill gotten gains and serving time for doing the crime. 

When I get home next week this will all be history anyway and just maybe we will know how much this is going to cost each of us.  Then again past is past is prologue, so we still may not have a clue. Tschau............

I want to keep it on topic but if anyone wants to discusss the Holocaust, great. For starters, explain how & Why the Auschwitz Memorial was changed in 1989/1990 from 4 Million to 1.5 Million but the total of '6 Million' was never revised downward.

Obama, and McCain, are going to 'fix' the economy, create jobs, provide universal health care, and protect America from suicidal  Infidels in airliners.

They are totally clueless Israeli firsters &  Zio-Poodles. You have a banking, real estate, stock market, social security, and Medicare collapse around the corner. And soon there will be a disastrous ' incident'  in America, and the Persian Gulf.

If you want to straighten out this mess you are going to need a dictator, not these two clowns. You will need a reverse Bolshevik revolution, where the wealth is taken back from the 3% that control 95% of America's assets.

Confiscate the gold, lock down the country, void the currency, ship the 120 million third world immigrants home, and then deal with the people who tried to wreck America.

Don, you do make some good points, especially about all the exported industrial manufacturing jobs.  This was caused by the passage of nafta, gatt and WTO treaties, all unconstitutional because they gave away our sovereignity.  Free trade has destroyed our manufacturing job base.  Now you ask for alternatives to Paulson unconstitutional, illegal proposal.

1. nationalize the treasury dept. take it away from the world bank and make the sec. of the treasury an employee of the USA like all the other cabinet members.

2. Nationalize the Federal Reserve.  Now, foreign banksters control this private bank that has never been audited. Start issuing real money backed by commodities and precious metals, not siomply promises to pay and accruing interest debt. Get rid of the fractional reserve fiat banking system.  If interest is going to be charged to borrow from any central bank, make it the citizens bank and pay the interest to the citizen's not pruivate euro banksters.

3. Nationalize the CEDE Corporation located in the tower of power building in NYC.  Google this for more information. Not to be discussed publicly.

4. Start grand juries in every state to bring crooked wall street manipulators who advanced illegal ponzi schemes to justice.

5. Start enforcing the US Constitution literally accross the board and imperach any elected official asap who violates it or the Bill of Rights.

6.  Declare a 5 year moratorium on all forclosures, renegotiate all mortgages to fixed loans at 3-4% interest.

7. Set up a public works corps similar to FDR and statrt rebuilding America's bridges and roads (infrastructure).  Jobs for everyone and health care provided and cost of insurance deducted from public works paycheck.
