I am reading much and would appreciate those who love the GSD to give me their advice. Are the GSD I am seeing that seem to have more of a sable look and less angle better all around GSD than those that look like the black and red/tan GSD that i grew up with as a kid? Just wondering as it seems the "working" dogs look thinner more wolf like and with less distinct color pattern than those that are in the "show" lines. How can I find both a great obedient GSD to protect but that has a strong but not "hard" wolf appearance.
Is there something called over angle?

Hi Mary,
I have posted 2 very long messages to you, so I'll make it short & sweet this time,
sounds like you may be close by to me, you can check out my web-site, I'm mostly
interested in a good obedience dog, my girl Dana just had 11 pups, her mom has
her CD, I think my dogs are the best, and have got many compliments also, from
people while walking my dogs or from people that have gotten pups from me, they
almost always want another...............
Anyway, I hope I press the right button this time...........
Here's my web-site: www.vonryansgermanshepherds.com
Enjoy & have a good night,

color does not make the dog.
you can find whatever you want in whatever color. granted you may have to look more if you are color specific.

When I saw a working line GSD in person for the very first time I asked the breeder what they were mixed with... LOL He must not have taken it too personally because he still sold me a dog, but I digress....
From my observations there is the elusive "golden middle" simply put good looking hard working dogs (my favorite!!!!) My advice- go with what you like, do your homework and take a leap of faith (especially with buying a puppy). Ask a lot of questions and if it does not feel right it probably isn't move on. Another important thing to think about is what are your plans/goals for the dog- Sch, confirmation, personal protection, etc....
