Ulli, you are obviously a very honorable man plus I love that young male you have for sale. He's my type of GSD, looks to be very athletic.  Looks to me like a dog that could get the job done. I'm not overly fond of the heavy, bulky looking dogs with the Akita-style heads. If I didn't have Blitz, you'd have heard from me and he'd be living in PA.

Have a great weekend, we're off to the PA endless mountains to a campground that likes GSD's. Blitz has packed up his Milk Bones and has already stationed himself inside the RV. Both of my GSD's have always known when it was time to go camping. I guess they see us packing up to leave. They have both done the same thing - plant themselves inside the RV so there is no chance of our escaping without them LOL.

Have a good weekend on the campgrounds, Blitzen. Wish I could go

p59teitel, that is simply not true. I sell my (German VA-sired) puppies for under $2,000 and I am not the only one. I guess you just did not talk to the right people. Plus, we do give guarantees.

"p59teitel, that is simply not true."

It absolutely was true regarding advertised prices for pups out of Dux de Cuatro Flores being sold here.

I'll concede that I didn't talk to any breeders before getting my Orbis, because I wanted a pup from Kirschental and spoke only with Marion Fueller.  My online research regarding the price of pups out of his sire was done out of curiosity after I purchased him, and so it was not a factor in my decision.

And I won't claim that I kept quite as close track of advertised prices for other VA-sired pups as I did for the Dux progeny.  But I would have to hazard a guess that you are probably in the lowest 10th percentile as far as pricing for such pups among American sellers, which would make your pups quite the bargain.

the fullers, kirschental are great breeders and great people, and they are honest and up front with anybody about one of there dogs, adult or young dog,,,,,and they are other good breeders in germany, and they are some in the u.s.a,but prices in the u.s are way to high, there is no puppy worth 2.500 .so when you ask about there guarantee, see if they ask these high prices see if they guarantee the dog will go V.A-V....if they do then buy it

Hello Peggy,

you give a gurantee that your puppies are free of every genetic defekt? Dogs can have more than 500 genetic defects. And the breeder knows only his mother line very good. The owner of the stud male dog can betray the breeder concerning the health of his dog.

I take 650 Euro for a puppy. When I have no problems with the bitch and the puppies I have (when the litter is big, like 8 puppies or more) max. 50 Euro profit per puppy. Circa 600 Euro are my cost for every puppy (for stud, veternary doc, announcements in trade magazins, dues for the pedigrees, food etc.). When the litter is smaller I have no profit, for example a litter with 4 puppies cost more as I get money from the puppy buyer.

Like the most german breeders I give although a guarantee for diseases which are measurably. That are HD and ED. Even this diseases are manipulable by environmental conditions like feeding and bodily action in the youth. But we have evaluators who say like this: "The hip of this dog is good an the hip of this dog is bad". A breeder can belief this evaluation results.

But in all other things a breeder is depent that his puppy buyer say the trueness. And that he has a lot of cognition about veterinary medicine. For example a pancreatitis can have genetic reason. But a virus can relase the same sickness. The breeder has no controll possibility. Perhaps he got on a person who has a healthy dog and want only the price for the puppy back?

German Shepherd Dogs have a special market. Mostly the buyers want special puppies out of a special breed crossing. They looks which breeder have a breeding combination which is interesting for them. Monstly want to have puppies from a special father. But the breeder should bear the risk for this breeding combination alone? When he take another father for his puppies the buyers don't take them...

Another reason one would go to Germany to buy a pup that has nothing to do with the cost is the fact that American breeders who sell VA sired pups, if they think there is a snowballs chance in hell that the pup will turn out to be show quality, will want to retain control over the dog.  They will require the buyer to jump through all the hoops they specify in a contract as well as requiring a non-breeding agreement and a second payment of the price of the pup to have it removed only providing the buyer does specific things--shows the dog with a specified handler, titles the dog to a specified level, koers the dog, and not to mention feeds what they specify, trains with whom they specify, etc.  They want to sell their pups and keep them too, only not have to house them, feed them or pay medical expenses, but yet have all the control.  You buy a pup from Germany and it's yours and that's that.

I guarantee all my puppies to be free from manufacturing defects for the life of the animal provided it remains with the original purchaser.  Defects caused by abuse, neglect, lack of regular maintenance, the feeding of unauthorized foods, repairs by an unauthorized veterinarian and damage caused by unauthorized training methods render the guatantee null and void.

Today I put my first ad on this forum seeking a female show line dog.

I am shocked that every reply I got but one today are from Germany and so now I'm having quite the difficulty with transalations.  I do not want to NOT follow though asking the questions about these specific females that I would be asking if an English speaking seller answering my ad. I have many questions to ask of these folks that have contacted me. I need help in correspondence  with the German/English thing with several of the dogs that are in my price range that seem nice. But, I imagine the senders are using a translation website because one even stated his dog is MAD (ha ha) but at the same time states she is over all in listening (which I take to mean very obedient)?.

So, I searched over posts here on the database where I got the replies to my ad, I found this one, and I am requesting that perhaps Silbersee or Oskar (who I have both respected for years on this site) might consider to help me along with the communication part of the discussion of the dog at least? I totally realize and don't expect a guarantee and I also realize the shipping costs involved and all, I just do not want to offend, but at the same time have further questions to make a smooth and comfortable transaction to both parties involved.

So? Sibersee or Oskar?  Can you contact me via the PM device or to my email?

Thanks so much......want to see communications and satisfaction between our countries run smooth....this is BOTH of our countries breed now

Why go to germany when you can get outstanding Dogs from over here in Belgium. I only live 40 miles from the German Border but knew there was as good if not better near to me and in Holland

Obedience Star,

my email address is displayed here under my name, or you can reach me through my homepage: www.vomsilbersee.com So, if you wish to contact me privately you are more than welcome. I do answer all email inquiries regardless of question, but you need to be patient. Sometimes, I get to it immidiately, other times it takes a couple of days.

What I can tell you right now, is that I never ever deal in dogs for resale. That includes getting into the middle of buyer and seller. I just do not want to be responsible for any transactions. I do however put people in touch with somebody I know in Germany, a friend who speaks English or a forum buddy. I do not ever accept finder fees, and in return ask to be kept out of these deals. For me, dogs are a hobby which I share with my family. Sometimes, we can get involved more and at other times, the dogs have to take a backstage role as we have two little children to raise as well, in addition to our fulltime jobs. The dogs I import or the litters I do out of German based sires are solely intended for my breeding program and our family's fancy (i.e. my family likes sables and now recently have added a black female to our program).

With that being said, I looked at your ad. If you set the price to a $ 2,000 maximum, I can tell you flat out that there is not going to be a good chance of getting something nice. Why would anybody part in Germany with a nice female for less than a puppy price (if you calculate shipping in)? Yesterday at my work, the dollar rate was 1.47! That means that your $2,000 are just 1,360 Euros! You saw the above posts. I can also tell you that I think that this currency rate is not getting any better with the high price of crude oil and the economy and the scary I-word. If you want to absolutely find a female in Germany, I would go the route with a puppy from a reputable breeder like Kirschental or let Oskar or D.H. help you find something.

For an older female, you might want to take the time and find a good one here in the U.S. It is nonsense that a German VA-daughter is any better than a well-bred female out of good healthy V-rated parents.

Again, if I can answer any other questions or help you further, please send an email.

Chris
