Just curious to know what your thoughts are of

1) this kennel in general 2) the dogs/pedigrees   http://www.koziesshepherds.com/germanshepherd.html   Since this is an international board & is home to some serious enthusiasts , comedians, internet superstars and people who are as obsessed as me with this breed I thought this would be the best place to go to get some opinions from people who might know a thing or two (or not) but in either case let me know what you think.  If you'd rather PM me that is cool too.  I hope everyone is having a good day, thanks!

My opinion on this website is that the dogs are from decent lines but it appears it is yet another dog trainer who breeds dogs without titles as they are said to be "work tested". I would say it depends on what you want and are looking for. I would meet the dogs and see the dogs for yourself and make a decision from there.

One thing I liked seeing was that they kept puppies back from their litters. I see to many breeders "Just breeding"  to sell puppies. So they have no ideal what they are producing as far as temperaments, structure and working...... just expensive little fur balls $$$$$$  And from their breeding they have produced a lot of nice looking dogs with good hip scores. Their lines are very nice and have crossed some combinations of Czech and German. Nice to see they are open minded about bring new blood in .

One thing that most will say is "there are no titles"  Personally I would like to see video of the dogs working or see in person

I personally like the looks of Ringo. I think the picture of him does not do him justice.  The pictures of their dogs are taken at wrong angles or  just bad shots. I would like to see better pictures or videos or better yet see them in person

So it just depends on you and what you are looking for.  A puppy is a gamble reguardless if it comes from title parents or not .  JMPO

Some of the pedigrees are promising. Yet, what I missed were any named accomplishments whit its own breeding stock besides fathering/mothering puppies. Show me something...like an agility title or so, especially when its stated that he is training dogs in agility.

The helper work in the protection pics looked kinda....hmmm....helpless.

Still refreshing to read nothing of the usual fancy stuff of world new super rare once in a life time champion of champion super duper mind reading doggy.

First of all I would call them and pick their mind a bit, as well I am always pro going and seeing the dog, ask for working videos or even better attend training session with a progeny if possible. I like the blood lines and I agree that the sire is good looking dog and I think he might be even better in person. Titles? Please I seen so many shitty dogs’ bread with SCHIII that every time someone promotes SCH prospects (as a sale point) I just walk away. Keep in mind some things just don't work no matter what titles or bloodlines might be there to buck it up. I want to see what they produced, I want to see them working and than I will make my decision. I bought a dog from a breeder that neither dam nor sire had any Sch titles, but he did let me come in to his training sessions and I had a chance watching progeny work. Now when I train with them on regular basis I have a chance to see the DAM working and I am even more assure that I made the right decision. Don't take any one word for it, and don't take titles as a measurement of quality, you might be disappointed. I agree that the idea that they keeping pups back is a very good sign.

Sorry, not enough titles or breed surveys in those pedigrees for me. No way to know what the dogs being bred there now have carried from their ancestry... or not. That protection work looks pretty hokie to me.

I've seen a lot of dogs that will drag their handler back to the car. LOL Yeah, I know they are probably trying to demonstrate drug detection training, I am probably being unfair...but this pic just doesn't give me the right impression right of the bat.  http://www.koziesshepherds.com/germanshepherdphotos.php?level=picture&id=106

Titles may not be the end-all-be-all for assessing working ability, far from it, but they are a lot better than most breeders' kennel blind and/or ignorant opinions of their own dogs. Also, for my future breeding program, I want to see those titles, ratings and breed surveys behind my stock. Its hard enough to get really well-bred pups from titled lines into good working homes, even for free, nearly impossible without those things.

Shell no offense I understand your point of view, and in no way I am against it, but I do know that there is a lot of breeders out there that go for the titles and they still breed Sh*t. Wouldn't you agree? That's why I always say go see it for your self. Don't go by website, don't go by titles, def don't go by breeders world :).  I think it is possible to see any dog work. People that don't title and claim that they train their own stock will have training sessions. They should be willing to invite you, so you can take a look at what you getting yourself into :). People that title, well I hpe they didn't stop working once putting title on their dog and once again you should be able to see the dog work. Sometimes you can be really lucky, like I was, and see actually the progeny work. No matter what you do you should never decide base on pedigree of the dog, titles, breeders world, strangers opinion (on msg board), or anything else without taking a look with you 4 eyes. :) Good luck to you; puppy is a crap shoot as it is, so why putting additional variables to your equation.

Thank you everyone, now I hope this does not piss anyone off too much, but this was a loaded question...  My boyfriend & I bought a dog from here 3 years ago & have currently have clients who also have dogs from him.  Some turn out great family pets, some super civil others are prey monsters.  I'm really just conflicted because I  like the dog we got (we lucked out he's nice & balanced), but when someone asked if I'd go back to him for another dog someday my answer was no.  For me this is a classic example of "if I knew then what I know now" we would have done things differently.  Don't get me wrong the dog we got (he's the one I'm holding in my profile pic) has all we want in a dog, but I still can't get over the "work tested" smoke & mirrors effect(he works His dogs in His yard, period paragraph) Plus the lack of any titles....  So to sum it all up, I would consider him to be a "gray area" middle of the road breeder, not a full blown breeding shit to shit to make a buck puppy mill but also definitely not someone who is serious about producing proven and consistent litters.  I don't know, I guess I was looking for anonymous validation of my opinion and now I'm just venting at this point- It is what it is.....  Thanks again for the insight.
