Hi,

I've been reading this board for the past few weeks and thought I should join. I have my second GSD now (8 months old) that I've had for 2 months. I'll attempt to post a picture and hope it works. I'm not a breeder, not in Schutshund, just an ordinary guy in Utah, U.S. who loves the breed. My male now is Mako and his father is German showline and his mother is German working line. My first GSD Steffi came from German working lines and lived 11.5 years until January when we had to PTS because of cancer. One of the hardest days of my life.

Hi everybody and hopefully the picture of Mako posts. He's 8 months and 69 lbs. Any guesses from you experienced owners & breeders of how much he'll weigh when full grown?

Enough for now.

Hi  cktoone,

And welcome.

He looks good at 8 months, if he is 69# now he could go 75#, he's still growing.

Helps to know how big the dam and sire are.

Hope you join in the conversation's that interest you, and avoid the one's that don't.   It's worth reading sometime's.

Anyway,

good luck with him,

Brent.

Welcome! Nice dog! Sounds like he will be a respectable size. I see a lot of Americans too hung up on HUGE dogs although I think it's "catching" in other countries. One of my shepherds looked gigantic growing up and he leveled off at about 90 pounds. The shepherd I am working with now was quite thin when he was younger but he filled out quite nicely. Despit a voracious appetite (he could outeat some of the older dogs) he had a skinny beginning. Now he stays around 88 to 90 pounds. At 92+ he looks too heavy. I'd rather see the dog a little lighter. I see too many overweight shepherds and their owners even brag about how fat they are. Oh, well...

Welcome to the site. It can really lively here and most people are very nice, respectful, and a very interesting source of information.

Oh, and it's fun!

Welcome,

Your dog is beautiful.  He looks to be a good weight.  I dont know how much he will weigh as an adult, a lot of that will depend on if you let him get fat.  He could probably weigh 120 if you let that happen.  He has nice bone and color.

Sorry about your other dog.  That is a tough thing to go thru.

Enjoy the site, there is a lot of valuable information on here.
