Question? Why can't the English breed club institute a WAC certification and hip certification requirement for dogs to be able to receive a Conformation championship. Couldn't this be done without the kennel clubs approval.....seems to be that would show a committment on both tiers. Because if they can and they don't then the primary problem is with the breed club in my view. the dogs that are going to get the multible breedings (10 or more in a year), are the conformation winners, not the backyard breeders. Similar to SV of Germany has set standards higher than many FCI standards for other countries. So if breed club sets high standards for mind and body seems to me that would circumvent the kennel clubs lack of commitment at least for the breed in England. What am I missing?

The KC rule the roost here Gustav, they have to licence each and every dog show... even the fun charity ones!

An SV system has been mentioned many times in the past but nothing ever happens.  I suspect it would be the same old problem of... who's in charge?  You've had a wee taster of how well we work together on here... multiply that by thousands!

I think if we don't get something out of the KC this time, maybe we'll all be cheesed off enough to move away from the KC.  They (KC) should worry about this happening, because if we go, other breeds will follow.

Our BC (Breed Council) and a couple of our bigger clubs are trying their best at the moment and they seem to be united, which is great... so, I'm not giving up hope.

Gustav

Is the WAC just for dobies? Is it something the breed club decided to do independently? If so that's brilliant.

when the KC were asked the question about banning unscrpulous breeders(as joyce said above) they made a big play about how it is better to keep them within the KC control... pack of lies nothing to do with keeping them within the KC control its about how much money they would lose if they were to ban the registrations from these breeders they will find it hard to sell their pups so eventually they either stop or they start to health screen their stock surely that is the correct road to go down legislate to educate
