At the age of 9months old , my male has begun to limp. After xray, the diagnostic is a small lesion of OCD in the shoulder. (osteochondritis dissecans) I don't know the english word. He has received injection of enzymes which are supposed to eat the death tissues. Does somebody know about this pathology. Is he able to do sport ,to produce? Is it a genetic pathology ? Now,he's 1 year old and he doesn't limp any more .

ocd is associated with other diseases; in humans, it is usually associated with other conditions; i never heard of ocd as a genetic disease per se (no gene isolated) but it should be multifactorial. treatment is conservative (rest, steroids) or joint replacement when the ct or x-ray shows advanced disease. don't know the treatment in dogs i would assume the treatment could be similar. He might grow out of it if it is not in a very advanced stage. like you mentioned, this is due to necrosis (tissue death) due to impaired vascular supply; i would assume that a growth spurt in your dog or subluxation of the joint could have been the cause; is it just one joint? good luck
