It is to my knowledge that linebreeding closer than 3-2 or 2-3 is not permitted. I have been searching through this site for a long time and I have come across a lot of linebreeding closer than that. For example Leif von der Noriswand he is linebred on Zito Noriswand 2-2. I know that it was a big scandal behind it. What about VA Tom Bauhofer Land he is line bred 2-2 on the C and F Farbenspiel litter (Connie-Fello). Is there not any consequence for that? If you say well they were two different litters what about Zarra von Funkenspiel, she is linebred on the "L" litter Neuen Berg Linda-Lasso (2-2). Can someone explain this to me. I know the AKC allows it but what if two german imports are bred in America and their progeny has a linebreeding closer than 3-2 will the puppies be allowed to be dual registered? What was the consequence for Leif Noriswand? What about VA Tom? Thanks in advance.

www.germanshepherddog.com "-Incest breeding: Matings between parents and offspring, grandparents and nieces and nephews, also matings between relatives of the first and second degree (nieces and nephews or siblings and cousins). Inbreedings closer than 2-3 or 3-2, also among siblings, are not permitted." 2-3 breeding is allowed, just not anything closer..still, statistically & in theory, the offspring of a 2-3 breeding have (my math might not the best here) 40% of their genetic make-up paired. this can be great if the trait you are aimming to reproduce is the trait that pairs up, but can be very bad if the opposite is true. & also, most traits are polygenetic, i know... if you look closely, there are dogs on this site that have been mated to their sires (yuck)

Zarra von Funkenspiel was not bred in Germany. It looks like an Hungarian breeder. Apparantly, in Hungary it is allowed to do such a close linebreeding. Leif on der Noriswand had a different sire, Hanno von der Wienerau. He flunked DNA testing, which was a big scandal back in 1999. After endless discussions and investigations, the true sire, Sasko von der Noriswand was revealed. It supposedly was an accidental breeding. Since Leif already had a lot of offspring, it was decided to not ban him afterall. A little resemblance to the Nero Noebachtal scandal this year. The T-litter vom Bauhofer Land puzzles me, too. I have to ask around why this breeding was allowed. Normally, it should not have been possible. Chris

What was the Nero Nobachtal scandal? How can an accidental breeding occur?
