Hello Everyone,

I picked up my puppy last night. I drove home while my wife was holding her on her lap. We arrived home about 8:00 pm. We had to place Butcher, our cat, in the garage temporarily, while introducing the Puppy to her new home. I gave her food and water which she ate and drank very happily and then took her to the backyard for a few minutes. She wanted to stay at my feet all the time and followed me wherever I went. I then took her to sleep in the bathroom of our master bedroom. I placed her mattress in a corner while covered the entire floor with training pads. She slept for an hour and then get up and peed on the training pads and went back to sleep again after playing for few minutes. She slept all night without a problem. As a matter of fact, she didn't yelp even once since I picked her up. She's just a happy little girl.

She woke up at 5:00 am today and was quietly playing. She had peed one more time during the night. I played with her for a while and gave her a biscuit which she broke into pieces, but didn't eat much. At this point I should have taken her outside, but it's too cold, so I took my chances. Well, she did her business few minutes later on the training pads, played with me for a little more and went back to sleep.  While she was playing, she tried several times, to pull my pants or bite my hands and feet, but I firmly said no, and amazingly she stopped immediately.

I'm so thankfull to all of you who contributed to my earlier threads in how to choose my puppy among the others in the litter, and Crate Training. As I mentioned before, it was the puppy who chose me during my previous visit. She stepped on her brothers and sisters when I snapped my fingers. She's also the biggest female (as big as the alpha male) and have good structure and good temperament.

As far as crate training, I will be placing the crate in the bathroom and leave it open until she gets used to it and sleeps there on her own. I will never force her in. Later on, I will replace the crate in its permenant location in the house downstairs. The only problem that I foresee now, is how to get the cat used to the puppy. Butcher saw the puppy while I was playing with her in the backyard last night and went insane. He would attack her in a second if gets his chance. It will take an effort to keep them separated and time until they get used to each other.

The following pic is while we were still at the breeder's house, checking the puppy's stack one more time.

That is one Spoilt Puppy!

She looks lovely, and I wish you all the joys with her in the future.  However please remember to be firm as they are so quick to wrap you round the finger and teach you oh so many bad habits.

We're still debating the name. My kids and I chose the name Flame, but spelled Flamme (German). I like flame because it's one clear vowel. My wife, however, doesn't like it!
