Shelley Strohl

I don't know if I could train more than 2 if I had to work full time. Even 1 would be tough in winter when we run out of light so early. Remember, I do this full time. Still, no dog gets 100%, and rarely do I work any of them in more than 1-2 phases on the same day. Laying tracks for 4-5 dogs is a pain in the ass, takes forever, but its the part I like the best. Even with no ice or snow the ground here is frozen so its almost impossible to lay a track right now. Come on SPRING!

I'm working 4.  One Schh3 already-trained but my very first-ever pre-trained dog so he and I are working on figuring out each others' "buttons" and it's progressing very slowly to "competition ready".  Nice dog though and fun to work with him.  One other I trained since puppy and he took 8 months off to get his HGH title - got that and now he's back in work for Schh titles, getting ready for his Schh1.  The 2 year old is getting ready for his BH and Schh1, and the puppy is just getting started.  Too many dogs, but each one is too good a dog and too exciting a prospect for me to part with.  So, it's four dogs for me, for now.  Yes I'm nuts.

I have trained 3 dog's working full time as well, and it does take a toll on you. Right now I will most likely start with 1-2 dog's. I was a lot younger when I was training 3  :-)

Molly-

4 dogs in training, retired dog(s), stud dogs, a new litter on the ground, a large boarding kennel, cats, 2 rooms full of birds, Chihuahua, chickens, horses, farm, historic house, faithfully restored, breed warden, resuce work, drug dogs, God knows what else... What do you do in your SPARE time? You make me feel like the laziest woman on earth!   Ha ha ha.

Yup, you're nuts Molly!

Though, I do train two of mine in herding as well.  So, that does add another element to it as well.  I trialed both this past October in the HGH and did some AKC trials with both.  Being as they are so different, I know that I did not do as well as I could have, just focusing on one.   So, this October, I will probably just enter Lexie.  Though, it's tempting to enter Ike again, because the judge is his breeder and he hasn't seen him since he was a young dog. Either way, I know that I am better just running one dog vs. two.

I retired Ike from Schutzhund after he got his 3 to be able to concentrate on Lexie more.  He still gets to come out from fun.  As he did yesterday because I swear he knew it was Sunday and was acting like a fool!
