That's what the ex told me today. He was there when they did the Lymes test on Trigger last week. They put a drop of blood on a test strip and it turned blue which meant he had Lymes disease. Makes me mad as Trigger most likely already had Lymes a year ago when the local vet charged me $20 for a booster shot. Pretty sad when you have to drive 3 hours (one way) to find a competent vet. Wish they sold those Lymes test strips somewhere.....

Just saw your message. To test for Lyme disease rhey need to take a blood sample and do a titer. It takes a few days to get the lab results. Less than twenty is ideal. Around 300 requires treatment. That consists of having the dog for one month on an antibiotic such as doxycicline HCl, 2X day. They redo a titer in 6 months. Less than 20 dog is in remission.
The vaccine is not a cure for a dog with Lyme Disease but a prevention.
If you get a high titer and the dog starts showing SX, IV antibiotics might be used.
Don't monkey around with Lyme Disease. It's cheaper to avoid it or at least catch it early and treat it immediately.
Your dog needed treatment as the vaccine is basically useless if he's already infected.
