Thanks for all your opinions, it was interesting to hear them.
I think for everybody it is different what is a REAL dog for them and for the most it is the own dog and that is ok.

Thanks Petra

I made up my screen name as a joke poking fun at GSD people because I am a malinios guy.

When I was 15, my dad had a German Shorthaired Pointer, he was a real dog.

Durning pheanst season, he would hunt all day and still have time to play in the front yard with me. One day we were in the front yard playing, we lived in a nice neighborhood, so paying attention was something I did little of.  A car went up to the end of the street, turned around, and stopped in front of our house. The passenger opened his door and asked me to come closer because he said they was lost and needed directions. I started to walk closer and tha's when our dog went crazy! He came inbetween me and the men in the car and went into a protection mode that I'd never seen before, or since. My dad came running out of the house, the man shut his door and they sped off. A few weeks later there was a blip on TV news about a girl that was taken from a home a few miles away that was raped and murderd. That would have been me, had my best friend and protector not been there to save me.

That's a real working dog.

IMO a real dog can take many differant forms. It may be the show dog that you know would never work for you but you can see it is perfect in form.It maybe the fire ball you watch on the field who is all teeth. It could be the dog who comes in to your home muddy tagging after your 6 year old...who is muddy as well.
It is for sure your friend of many years whos muzzle is gray and bright eyes shine with love for you.I think if you are really a dog person you can see the perfection in many breeds of dogs even if you would never own one.

I just want to say that I watched the video, and I really like that dog. Training accidents happen, and the idiot that posted them in public is an idiot. Just because the dog bit his owner doesn't mean 90% of the shit said in the other post.

Hope the guy gets well soon, and maybe he will breed the dog and send a pup my way. LOL

I,m so tired of "real dog"

We all have expectations of our own dogs  abalities and strengths it,s no different then asking someone what is the "best" ice cream flavor.
If your happy with your dog then it,s a "real dog"

As the old song goes " If you can,t love the one you want love the one your with"

So "if you can,t work the dog you want work the one you got"

"I could of been a rock star if I hadent been banned from MTV"

Name the actor who made that quote.
