Does anyone use a vest for their therapy dog? I've heard a few things. Don't know if I want to get one that says Therapy dog in training. Breeder thinks I should get one, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Wondering how many people do it. Just asking around for $$ reasons.

Thanks.

The nice thing about either a vest or harness is that it immediately identifies your dog as a "dog at work" and you will be hassled less and treated with a little more regard. And it helps when you are crossing a street. Talk about a traffic-stopper!

There are also different types of therapy dogs. If it is related to more of a physical-type therapy, a vest or harness with a handle is useful.

I have used working dogs vests/harnesses as "seatbelts if I transported my dogs by car with no room for a crate.

Some vests/harnesses have reflective strips, or are colored for visibility.

Check local state law. A blaze orange collar and/or vest can also be substituted for a harness for legal purposes. Service dogs enjoy greater protection under the law in case something happens and your dog is injured or killed (God forbid). (Check local general statutes.) The liability coverage in itself would be enough of a reason to have your dog clearly identified as a service animal.

I got my vest from activedogs.com  I really like it and have used it for over 3 years now and it doesn't show any wear at all. My 1st vest is Red with a Therapy dog patch, a Working Dog DO NOT PET PATCH, both provided and sewed on by the company.  I have added her Service Dog Patch and had her other accomplishments embroidered on recently, the vest as well has a nice padded handle, 2 D rings for leashs to be attached or other things, and 2 clips for her badge and records.( which include, a small laminated copy of her vaccine record, a mini laminated copy of her certificate, a laminated copy of what she does and is certified for, and a copy of my ID and medication list, allergy list and all emergency contact info as well as a ADA card).   I paid $65 for the vest.  Well worth every penny.

I have an Activedog vest on two of my dogs. Not sure if the same one. Blue and black with "service dog" patch. Very durable and lightweight! Very little fading and wear! Decent price.

I look there as well.

I'm glad to know that other people use the vests. lol.

I do need to check the laws about it down here.

Thanks.

Yes, Chaos wears a vest that has patches on it.  You can go to SitStay.com as they said and order one from there.  They have all of the patches too that you can order.  They are pretty fast at getting things out too.
