No one denies there's been unscrupulous breeders. But what does that have to do with adding known mongrels to a German Shepherd Dog pedigree database? NOTHING.

It sounds as though you're saying that since some people have lied about purebred dogs, therefore we should include known mutts. No. It doesn't work that way.

Including a GSD/Mal cross, or a GSD/Shiloh cross, or a Shiloh, or a Labradoodle, or anything EXCEPT a GSD is inappropriate for this db. You simply cannot win this argument.

You are saying on a GSD board, on a GSD database, it is closed-minded to want to list only GSD and not crossbreds. You're wrong. Crossbreds don't belong here. Keep the records if you like, publish them if you like, but not here. This is a German Shepherd database. This site is not a Shiloh db, not a mongrel db, but a GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG db. Accept it. Deal with it. I don't know why you are so resentful of these people here who love and cherish their fine breed, but that's how you come across. People come here to talk GSDs, to learn about GSD, and to study GSDs. There are other venues for other breeds and for other mixes, and a lot of people here talk about their other breeds in those other places. I know I do. But I don't go to those other boards and INSIST that they discuss GSDs simply because they're important to me.

The issue is not what "might" have been "snuck in" a hundred years ago. It is placing NON-gsd pedigrees on a gsd database. Don't the shilohs have their OWN database? If not, why not constructively dirwect energy toward establishinh one, instead of bastardizing this one. Oh, well, some people only have a nodding acquaintance with veracity anyway. QED. Hodie: was your question ever even qcknowledged, much less answered? Too much bathos for me! :-)

I did ask Oli to remove the dogs when I saw them posted. THEN I did some research and found they had AKC numbers. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/user_comments/121849.html

Anyone wanna take this up with the AKC? The dogs are long dead, and so is the breeder.

Not to be rude, but to listen to someone say that this man's dog is crap just irritates me. My GSDs are a part of my family, and frankly it would be like looking at my kid if they were different and telling them they were crap. Dogs aren't just for breeding and having noble titled lines, they are about what you bring to their lives and what they bring to yours. And if you are just in it for the money , then you shouldn't own a dog. Just my opinion...leaving it at that.

I think your dog is beautiful....frankly it's your dog and your opinion that matters.

I do however have to agree with trying to breed to keep the "standard". Most people who have full breed dogs would have already thought of that, just as I am sure you have.

I am new and I really hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes.

So this SHILOH on a GSD Pedigree Data Base was NOT added by you, huh? Whatever. But you took it upon yourself to research his pedigree and ask Oli to remove the dog? Then you did a little more bullshit research and decided to add more remarks. Of course you said yourself you have added dogs from the Shiloh kennel to this data base, oh just not THIS Shiloh. uh huh.

Folks for an even bigger belly laugh, go back and read more of Tina's bullshit about the GIANT GSDs from her childhood and how all the GSD breeders at the time were breeding smaller dogs. RIIIIIGGGGGHHHHT - When Tina was a kid the average GSD was 100lbs and 30inches????

Yes. I added AKC registered GSD's, bred by the Shiloh Shepherd KENNEL. Not one single thing wrong with that, except that they were bred by the notorious TINA BARBER! The Shiloh Shepherd, as an individual breed, did not exist at that time.

I don't think he was told the dog was crap until he posted about breeding it after the fact. There is, in my mind, quite a difference in criticizing a beloved pet and breeding stock. And he asked for constructive criticism on his dogs in another thread.

I think the title is a typo, and it's supposed to read GV (Grand Victor) Ch. I've discovered that once titles are entered in pedigrees, they cannot be changed, so if you make a mistake, it's there for good. (And no, once again, I did NOT put that dog in the database, though looking at his ped, I did try to complete it, then stopped when I realized Sabrina wasn't purebred, in spite of being AKC registered. I added a comment to those pedigrees to alert people to that fact.)

I DID answer Hodie's question, but that thread sunk from sight without a reply.

Now, can we leave this alone and MOVE ON??
