Well, trainer just sent these to me.  I am such a proud Momma.  But, I really miss my dog.

He was started in Germany.  But, this is the info on who is getting his title for me.

My take.  He seemed very knowledgable and friendly.  His training area/home was well kept and very clean.  He seems to understand my needs and requests.  His loaner dog is wonderful (as per my request to have a protector here in the house while Hanz was gone).  All in all, I like him and he seems to be inline with what others said.  I will let you know more as I know more if you PM me.

Why is someone else training your dog? I thought SchH was all about a dog and its owner learning together and competing as a team? Am I wrong again?

Nice dog

Many people send their dogs to be trained and titled, for many reasons.....

"Loaner Dog"?  Too funny!  What a full service trainer!  Thank you for providing his information for those of us that don't have a lot of time but want to ensure our dogs achieve their full potential!

I think iloveshepherds just gave one good reason.  Add to that for some clubs are a long ways away, and add to that, the chances of an experienced trainer screwing up your dog are far less.   An ideal situation of course is to have an good and experienced trainer work with you working your dog.

Does a dog trained by someone else listen to you when they get back or do you have to do some training together  anyway?  What does something like this cost approx.?

He looks great BTW,! is he working on his ScH I ?  How long before he gets back,  how long was he away?
Sorry for the million questions, it is just interesting and I think alot of us are curious!

No problem.  I sent him to a pro bc 1 there is one club down here and it only meets every three to four months.  And, to get a title you really need to commit more time than that.  The private trainer that I would have used here to train me and my dog wants to do Police dogs and seminars only.  Hanz was started really well in Germany and he listened to me right off so I don't see that he will listen anyless once he gets back.  Plus, I find it very easy to get my dogs to listen.  They respect and love us.  I also chose to have someone else do it because I don't want to mess him up.  He is perfect in every way, as far as I can tell.  He really should have a title.   It is costing 800.00 a month.  Could take 4-5 months(this was the hardest part for me).  He is working on Schutzhund 1.
Well, I think that is all the questions.

Windy

Oh, as far as getting him back.  In the past, I had gotten a retired hard core police patrol dog and had no problem getting him to fit into our lives. I don't need to be trained with him.  Really, if you know how to read your dog it is as simple as respect on both ends.
One of the things about Hanz though, is he is a family dog.  He LOVES us all.  He had a beautiful bite when I got him, but he also has the understanding of his role in our lives as a pet and friend.  He is fantastic with my children.  I think its in the dog.  If you send a dog that has no or little respect for you then you may have problems,  but if you start with a great dog that is already started well and is mentally stable, there should be no problem or transistion time.  This is why I like GSD instead of the mal or tervern.
