I Live on Long Island and am looking for a trainer who trains in REAL life scenerios

i need to start training my puppy (9mths) for REAL PERSONAL PROTECTION.

Can anyone recommend a trainer??

Harley,
Don't you know all of the SchH and PPD guys on LI? There are some very good K9 guys up there that also do SchH but I don't think they would do any PPD training. I can't think of any one other than the ones that you know to recommend.

I would run screaming from a trainer who thinks its ok to start PPD work on a 9 month old pup. PPD work is very different from schutzhund and a 9 month old puppy does not have the maturity. Nothing wrong with scoping trainers out now, but you need to know that your dog is too young at the moment to actually start the work.

Harley:

From a practical point of view I,d get some handgun training and apply for a personnel protection permit if the law allows and I have 7 german shepherds, reley on your self before you reley on any one or dog.

bob i have a pistol permit. my 9 mm walther ppk/s is sitting in arms reach of me now :)))

i am not throwing my "PUPPY" into protection work. i am looking to start foundation training.
i know he isn't mature enough.
this is my 6th GSD.
