Our Ivy League Schools turn kids away that have perfect 4.0 gpa and high SAT's. - Many of whom need grants and loans.......

Hey, I'm not saying it good or bad.

I do believe that the palying field should be COMPLETELY equal......based on grades and grades alone..........best grades get into the best colleges......

That is not the case right now......and it is wrong.

I would agree with you if  all primary and secondary public schools were also "equal opportunity" with the same depth and  quality of teachers, opportunities,  resources, student to teacher ratio, the same amount and quality of AP classes, etc.,  for all kids, regardless of whether they hail from the inner cities, the wealthiest suburbs, or somewhere in between.   Then we would have a more level playing field.

SitasMom I think we all want to see the best kids with the best grades be rewarded with being able to get into the schools of their choice, I guess the issue is how to level that playing field from the time the kids are first entering schools up until they are ready for college.

Raymond it's funny, you are always so busy telling everyone what god thinks and what a good Christian is, but you fail to look at yourself.   I believe there is hope for everyone and the one slight saving grace I see with you is you apparently do not WANT to be a racist, which is a good thing.  If you are sincere, then you will look back over your many crass and ignorant statements and do something to effect a positive change in your outlook of others.  Perhaps a little less preaching at others and worrying about who is gay and who is not, who's going to hell and who's not,  coupled with a little more serious reflection on what you can do to improve your outlook and attitude might be something you should consider.

Rat Pack King's question was who said? ""The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money".

The answer is Margaret Thatcher!

How can there be a Level Playing Field with the violence in the schools?   So many schools are being affected ... all the money in the world will not change it.    In some schools, teachers are afraid of their students and have been beaten by their students.   Parents are afraid to send their child to a Public School because they fear that he/she may be maimed or killed.  Money is poured into the inner-City schools .... it makes not a bit of difference.

My grandson attends a Private Christian School  in order to learn in a safe environment.   He is doing so well, and I am so proud of him.

Wasn't  forced busing supposed to make a level playing field?

It failed miserably!

by SitasMom on 05 August 2009 - 00:08

that's a vote for school voutchers.........YES!

by SitasMom on 05 August 2009 - 00:08

With voutchers, all parents can  choose which school they want their children to go............public schools will have to work hard to compete with chirstian and other schools all the schools that survive will be better of for it

its a crazy way to create free enterprise in a government/civilian schooling system
