Kassandra is still hard at work searching for Stryker. She is sick as a dog, physical and emotionally drained. I fear she can not take much more of this.

We had a good lead on where he stayed the night before so Kassandra and my friend Kenny stayed up all night in hopes he would return to the same spot. No such luck. No sightings yet today but we are not giving up! I will update again soon.

Plaster that area where he was sighted with flyers with a phone #.  Folks who missed the first search for him need to see them.

Also: stop any mailmen you see.  UPS, too, but U.S. Mail is every day to every house and they know the neighborhoods and see a lot.

Also, hand your flyers to kids.  Kids see a lot.  For instance, they might have seen him when they were out riding their bikes, and kids know who just got a new dog in the back yard.

Great ideas Tess!  I wish I had time off...I'd be up there to help.  Poor dog, poor Kassandra.  I can soooo feel her pain.

Thanks to Beth, Kassandra had a long interview with WIBW 13 and the news report should air at 6pm. You can see a portion of it on their website now. Its on the right hand side, under "video player" labeled "Looking for stryker"
http://www.wibw.com/localnews

Beth has also arranged for Days Inn to give her a room till her dog is found!

I hope the news report will help reunite the two!!!

Thanks a million Beth!

Since he's a recent import, does the owner have the crate he was shipped over to her in with her?  If so, it might be worth setting that up in the area he's been sighted most recently (chain it to something solid so no one walks off with it, though), since it's likely the single item that's most familiar to him here in the States.

Other resources to notify directly: the municipal or private local trash haulers, since they typically start working the streets early in the AM when dogs are likely to be checking out the trash for edibles;  municipal/township/county public works offices, since the roads repair crews and the parks maintenance crews (in suburbs/city areas) are also good candidates for spotting a  roaming dog.

Thank you to all who have kept this thead alive by bumping, by spreading the info thru lists and forums and email and by wonderful helpful suggestions. I had not abandoned it, just working different angles trying to get her helpf on the ground, news coverage etc. The outpouring by people has been pretty wonderful. Just as an example I had a wonderful call this morning from a lovely 77 yr old gentleman in Montana that had seen a post on the web and was worried about the two of them and wanted to know if they had been reunited yet. He's  a bird dog guy who loves his dogs and had some wonderful suggestions about things to try including the one above about postmen and garbagement.

While I have run into some road blocks from the military in getting help, Deb at Ft. Riley in the media section set me up with all the contact info for newspapers, radio and tv which helped us get two radio interviews ( the anon report came after the 2nd one so I'm thinking we might have struck a chord), a tv spot and hopefully today a newspaper article or mention.

JoAnn ( Dogladyj) is a USA person who has gone above and beyond in helping out - spending days looking and posting info and opened her home to Kassandra at a point where she desparately needed it.

Tess, I'm sorry to say the American Red Cross ( I am not a fan but I called) did just about what I expected from them - their response - you need help, get a loan!  FYI in MHO if you give money give it to the Salvation army rather than the Red cross. Do you know that each location MUSt pay a franchise fee to the national office and if they have the temerity not to as one of our local ones did because they had extraordinary expenses that year from natural disasters - off with your head. The local CEO got canned soley because he used that money to help people. Also when they solicit after a disaster - much like HSUS- there is no promise that the money will be used for the victims of THAT disaster. They have been sued on this issue several time. My prejudice comes from my dad because in WW2 the Red Cross would charge for their coffee, donuts and ciggies while the Salvation Army took care  of our guys.  It seems like nothing much has changed.

What we still need help with is savy dog people for eyes on the ground. Doesn't have to be GSD people or USA people. So if you know ANYONE in Kansas whether they be AKC, CKC<, UKC, pet owner extrordinary, retiree, VFW member , K9 officer etc etc please send the message on. If they can give us an hour, a half of day, a day to help look. We need people who understand not to chase or even approach to just keep eyes on him and see where he goes and call us so we can get Kassandra to that spot asap. One call, one email , one piece of help just might make the difference. Thank you all. Beth

Still praying for Stryker's safe return.
My Daddy said the same thing about the Red Cross. He supported the Salvation Army his whole life, wouldn't give a dime to Red + because of the coffee and cig's issue.
