Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about AmCross. YUK.  Well, phooey on them, then.  What about the Veterans' Administration then.

I like the suggestion about Stryker's crate.

Still hoping and praying and thinking positive thoughts.  He IS out there alive and he WILL be found by Kassandra.

Most communities have a support group of military families.  Hopefully your friend can connect with them for help & support.

Hi all,

Still in the good news, bad news state.  Bad being no reunion and no sightings today plus poor Kassandar is sick as a dog - no pun intended.

The good news is that they were able to corral two other "shepherd type" dogs. Took them to the shelter and one of them has been missing for a very long time ( I think she said a year) and has been reunited with his owners who were thrilled.

All of the search support has fallen away since people have to return to work etc so we are trying to think of other groups we can solicit for help. Any suggestions gratefully received. I really would like to get to off duty personnel from Ft. Riley since they seem a natural but I just keep hitting a stone wall with the military. Ideas?

We are thinking of trying to do things a bit differently. Most sightings have been in a fairly large but defined area. IMO Kassandra needs to find places to go and sit and give Stryker a target to find. Since he was primarily handled by men in Hungary, we are going to have a Hungarian friend record a message of sweet dog nothings in Hungarian on Kassandra's phone so that it can be played ( speaker phone, amped microphone - however we can get it to work) while she sits and waits. My hope is the combination of a male voice speaking the language he knows might draw him in. Here is our problem tho. We've gotten good publicity but it's a two edge sword. The community now knows his owner is a young, attractive, small girl. The area he is hunkered down in is not the best of neighborhoods in what I understand is not the best of cities. So while we may not need so many bodies on the ground we do at least need one at a time to partner with her and watch her back from a distance away. Again any suggestions for example how I might get to retired military or cops?

Thanks for your support and for keeping this thread active.  Beth

Great news about the other dog being reunited with its owner...after a year no less!  Wow.  Now if we can just get Stryker found and back where he belongs!
Hang in there everybody, especially poor Kassandra.  If you want to get help from the military, put flyers in the local liquor stores.  Most everyone visits there on the way home from the base.  Maybe a dog lover will spot it and get with you and you can recruit help from him and his buddies.  Worth a try.  Have you contacted the schools in that area?  Ask them to hand out flyers to kids with instructions to call in any sightings.  Most kids have cell phones now.  They could be a big help.
Good luck and keep us updated.

I posted something already but think it went to the wrong thread. I have been in touch with Kassandra by phone. I would like to offer any help she may need. I have informed Tom Brenneman of  Iron heart k9 traing center in KC, formerly Vom Kaisserhofs. He will keep a lookout. I would be available to come up this entire weekend to search. Please let me know if you need anything.this is my email during the day  savila@topeka.k12.ks.us.

here are a few commands  in Hungarian, OKOS or JULVAN = good
                                                                            Cyere or Hozzam = here
                                                                             Marad= stay
I know a littltle polish  but pronunciation is similar. These terms would be useful for anyone looking.
The idea of a recording is good. I'm sure some one from the ppolice dept canine unit would be sympathetic and perhaps assist  her in the bad areas.  Praying for her and the pup. Steph----- still want to go help her this weekend - I live in Topeka

I am so sorry the puppy hasn't been found yet.  I hope he won't be lost much longer. At least he's been sighted.

My GSD finds and brings lost dogs to me frequently. Have you tried that?

Take a stable friendly dog with you, hopefully a Shepherd that can also search for the puppy by scent.. People say Shepherds don't recognize each other but I swear that they do. Maybe its their scent that they know.

Dogs will come to another dog because they're lonely, want to play or just like the adult dog.   then call your dog to you and hopefully the puppy will follow. Be sure you have a very 'fragrant' tastey  treat to offer.
I'm sure it would be very helpful if the person spoke in the language the dog understands too.

This has always worked for me with every lost dog we've run across.

I hope you luck changes very soon.  My very best wishes to you all.
I would think that if a Shelter/vet or other professional scanned and found a chip they didn't recognize that they would advertise the puppy.
Our pound will not tell people on the phone if their dog has been found. They have to come and look every day. Awful for most who work. Also awful if they give up and quit coming in every day. The Pound also will not peruse the Lost Dog Bulletin Board at the Pound to see if caught dogs may be lost dogs that someone is looking for.
Surely, if someone found this puppy they would realize it's a very well bred dog that someone is missing.
