Jantie, I think there are many more that share your views than you actually realise. With the recent suspension on CC’s in the UK, I think there were more eyes on the Sieger this year than ever before. There certainly was in this house. Yes, one is ruining the breed, absolutely shocking, not to mention the Canto/Quanto genetic saturation.

I did not attend this year. Last year I thought Furbo did well in bite, although not my favorite in anatomy.
When you say "one" is responsible, are you referring to one dog or one person. No need to name names.
Also now, I think more dogs are added to the "called out" list, including Vegas.
Thanks,
Rik

Vegas looks like a typical German showline, no better or worse than other recent Siegers. He looks to have excellent bone, good masculine head and expression, good pigment, and a decent topline and croup. But that youth sieger....broken toplines make me want to puke... They are totally against the breed standard, and look even worse than roached backs.
Yes, I know I should see the dog in action before offering any further critique, and I haven't done that yet. In what way is he better than Zamp?

Bottom line about the Sieger Show, it’s a business folks for the Germans. Why would they promote a dog outside their country? The SV judges are the owners of this business. There are many dogs better than this years VA’s, the reason they are not there is because the judges does not own them. Yes we can debate the dogs that should be VA, and they are all good dogs but remember at the end of the day its big business.

I know that I am a relative newcomer to the breed, compared to many here, but the pic of the Youth Seiger above...He looks short. He's about as tall from ground to withers as he is in length, even if you go clear the front of his chest. If I'm not mistaken, the standard calls for the dog to be longer than tall, such as the one at the top right of this page, and the Youth Seiger doesn't have that proportion.
Am I incorrect? A lot of the top GSD of the show world today are too short, from what I can see. His color is good though, and his head. Though I must agree with Sunsilver...His topline looks broken, somehow. Doesn't look right, with that and the short body.
These are just my novice observations, but it is through study, observations, and sometimes stupid questions that one learns.
Opinions?
Before anyone from the show world jumps all over me, I am not condemning the dog. Only asking whether my observation is correct?

after the Sieger Show in Ulm, a lot of people went home with shattered dreams. I myself have noticed, how my predictions and fears have sadly enough been confirmed once more.
With tears in my eyes, feeling very sorry for the untrained dogs AND the unprepared owners, I have watched the Schutzdienst, a hallucinating experience (once again?) Folks! THIS is the worldchampionship! Don't come unprepared!
1985 German Shepherd Dogs might have been registered for the contest alright, but only 912 finally made the Standard. Way too many competitors did not even make it past Schutzdienst. The result of bad management and bad steering at the top of the association?
But let me offer you some interesting, naked data from the consecutive Sieger Shows 2007 / 2008 and 2009:

Enjoy!
