HI...

Nala has been doing really good. here and there we take the cone off and let her run around in the livingroom,
Cody has been laughing non-stop when her and daisy play.

nala is going in on the 28th. next wed. for her other eye.

here and there, i also try to do some training.............. YAH, right. she will have nothing to do with it,
I need some pointers, she has been so bull headed, LOL>>> her way or no way.
i know she is still upset at us, since she don't understand why we have the cone on her or why she has to deal with the
drops in the one eye still, or why she cant go to our room to her bed (crate) at night.

i think she is so not trusting us, she feels felt out, its so hard to take her for walks.

i know this can be fixed with training, she use to mind me, now shes almost taking my finger off when i give her treats, so i toss them to her.

I know she is smart, thats why she is trying and is bossing us around now. the one in control.
She would never hurt us or anyone. her heart is gold. but.... its getting hard to hold down a 78 pd. dog with a mind of her own.

the good news is, she is back to kissing cody....... when she is by him....

i will not give up on my nala....... she is my baby,  she so reminds me off CODY. soooo strong willed...

pointers...... please..

Love, Beverly

Beverly, You really need to assert yourself as the alpha bitch in the house. I cannot remember where you are located, but I am willing to bet that there is a schutzhund club in your vincinity with loads of experienced trainers who would be happy to help you.

I am at a loss.

Sadly we can't afford to pay for training.

I am searching for something helpful to say for the sake of the dog.

Best advice,
Go to the library and check out whatever references you can find on how to raise and train a German Shepherd dog,
It won't involve any moneys but it will take some effort on your part.

It's not so much different than raising children,
a dog is not a child but they have much in common when it comes to living in a family group.

I dunno,
still at a loss.

Pretty tuff to work a dog that is not feeling very well she has been through alot and has more to come so you have to make sure you don't baby her to the point she walks all over you. Its kinda like having a wild 2 year old boy you must stay on them and let them know you are boss.  LOL You will have your time to train and thats what matters most.

Once she recuerates, try searching for an AKC club in your area.  They're usually about $10 per session although usually and 8 week course, paid in advance.  But, maybe you could explain your situation and pay as you go.  Let me know if you need resources, there's another board where I know there are many from the Chicago area, perhaps they could point you in the right direction.

So glad to hear it went well!  So, in two weeks, we want some happy pictures.  I'm sure the kids will be over their illness by then and Nala will be happy without the cone.  Thanks for the update Beverly, we appreciate it.  I have Cody and Nalas picture on my refrigerator and look at it all the time.  It's wonderful that it all worked out and you can stay together, as a family, whole.  Let us know how she's doing over the next couple of weeks.  Hope the kids are better soon too!
