Hi Brigitte,

I imported 4 pups from Hungary over a year ago - they drove to ship them from Frankfurt. I received pink SV papers for them, and then the breeder also sent me MEOE (Hungarian registry) Bescheinigung. But I'm not sure if they were really necessary? They looked like a record of sale. But anyway, call AKC and ask if they need a Bescheinigung for dogs from Hungary. Make sure that the dog is registered with MEOE or SV.

Regards,
Yuliya

You need the export pedigree from the registration in Hungary, like the MEOE.  You only need the Bescheinigung from the country the dog was residing in if they have SV pink papers.  If they were born and registered in Hungary with MEOE, the export pedigree should be all you need.  Yuliya that was necessary or they wouldnt have registered the puppies, I had to do it 2 years ago with a male I bought.

Brigitte,

You might consider contacting Sue DiCero or Gabor Szilasi at k9imports.com.  They import from Hungary often, and Gabor is Hungarian.

Be very careful who you deal with in Hungary.  There are pending charges against a woman that responded to an ad that I placed here looking for a young IPOI or II female Malinois.  To make a long story short, do not send ANY money Western Union to anyone in the EU.  The problem I ran into was the woman used an alias.  I Googled the "new" name and came up with nothing, however after things progressed, names started popping up from behind the woodwork.  I hired an attorney in Hungary to handle the situation for me and things were going well until she forged a bank document and sent it to the law office.  Now the government has decided to go after her criminally instead of just civilly and that will take some time.  The best idea is to go to one of the larger banks that will actually set up a "holding account" for the money.  Money is basically held in an account like escrow until both parties are satisfied with the transaction and then it is released.

My apologies to the good people of Hungary (including my friend Gabor) it's a shame that a POS like this can dim the view of dog people in the world.  In the small world of dogs, deals are done on basically a handshake and sending money without having the dog is risky,  just as sending the dog without the cash in hand.  Stories like this one only complicate the system.

If she would have just returned the money, or even sent the dog, things would have been forgotten but now as cold as it sounds, I hope she gets taken from her family and does some jail time.
