German Shepherd were created with a purpose behind it and made in to a breed....a pure breed. Sorry but the "designer dogs" aren't bred with a purpose other then marketing a "Designer Dog"(Puggles,Labradoodle,Goodle etc). Mutations of breeds shouldn't be bred cause it is" rare"(Panda Shepherd/white shepherd). It doesn't do justice to the breed that does have a standard. (although that seems to be forgotten)

Know what you mean, Zed!

Some people should be tending to their mental problems rathering going all Dirty Harry on others.

You can't blame a poor creature - but the ignoramus who created it in the first place. Breed standards were put in place to protect the dog from crazy fads that change with the wind and breeding practices meant to make money rather than improve the breed.

Sometimes the homeliest mutt can be your best friend and live like a prince if you have the heart to love it.

Saddest of all when incredble dogs of great renown live a marginal existence - to bolster the ego and fill the pockets until they are used up and burnt out.

You need to loosen up.  Get a drink or go for a walk with your dog.

I kind of think that you are the snob For thinking the way you do Panda so called Shepherds are not within the breed value so why try and change that, they are nothing but a cross bred the same as so called designer Dogs but in truth they are Mongrels. this side of the Base is for the German Shepherd breed, and the breed as we know it is  nothing to do with Panda so called Shepherds
If that is what is being a snob then i am one i guess, but if it takes that to help keep the breed intact away from these Panda so called Shepherds, no fault of those dogs just Dumb People with just one thing on there mind MONEY thats all it is done for no matter what they may say, So welcome to the Snobs Club

"A better idea would be for those with other interests to go where those interests are shared, not come onto a GSD board . . ." - ILMD

ILMD you are badly mistaken or extremely ignorant considering this forum.  This is a General Topic forum meaning if you go to any breed, mals, labs, etc. you will get this same General Forum.  So, get off your high horse or go to the German Shepherd forum.

The problem is that you probably want the German Shepherd form as well because the people there tend to be much more educated on the breed. Therefore, less tolerant of silly rants.

So, get your facts right - before you spout and spew.

As far as the Pandas - I'm not a fan.   Idon't like the way they look.

But I once raised Paint horses which (are simply Quarter Horses w/ Too much White.)  This meant I had to deal with the same issues among Quarter Horse people as the Panda people do among GSD people.  You could get paints a few different ways (pre-DNA days) Breeding 2 Paints you had about 75-80% chance of a  paint foal. Breed Paint X Quarter Horse 25-50% Paint Foal;   Breed QH X QH 5-10% Crop Out Paint Foal if the 2 QHs had a lot of whit markings.  So it was a low % business but people did it because they loved the fancy look of a Quarter Horse with a whit face, shield, rump, or other markings.  For many many years quarter horse breeders said they were inferior.  Now they admit they were wrong.

Genetic events happen - then some like the way they look, they are just as bright, they just look different.  Do as the horse did let them start a new breed.  Whats the other choice?  KILL THEM WHEN BORN!

ILMD - This is not the German Shepherd Forum; it is the General Topics Section that is "open" for discussion on ALL dogs breeds.

tuff, please scroll to the top of this page and repeat the words written in bold right in the middle of the page. I have absolutely no issue with anyone discussing the panda? or any other mixed breed mongrel dog. I simply do not care until they start passing them off as GSD.

Oh, you are not the first one to ever saddle up a quarter horse. They were admitted because the public wanted them and there was a lot of money to be made from them, not because they offered a superior alternative to the quarter horse. Study the linage. Quarter horses were used to breed up the paint, not the other  way around. Please show me a pure paint cutting horse with pure paint lineage or a racer that doesn't have a few top QH thrown in to bring them up to snuff.

Please show me a panda? that can be used to breed up the present day GSD. Maybe a VA panda?, a top BSP competitor,
maybe a seeing eye dog. Where are these pandas? that have so much to offer the breed.

The GSD is a well defined breed with a clear and well defined standard. The panda? is a mixed breed mongrel.

I thought this thread was about snobs.

For someone who wants to make this their first post, don't you have this kinda backwards? In talking about attacking the board your doing the exact same thing. Isn't this calling the kettle black? Your being just as mean and disrespectful as those your complaining about.

The breed standard is set for reasons just like this. Its hard enough breeding for a well balanced, healthy, clear headed dog. If the person wants to change the breed, then a shepherd isn't the breed for them and they can choose one of the other hundred breeds available.

I used to raise Aussies. Breeding two merles together was a gamble and if pups came out too white they were culled from the litter. Its been that way for all the years I raised and trained them. Now I see that people are breeding for it. Too bad that most of those pups will have a genetic defect that wont show until the dog is older. It makes me mad when I see this because I know whats to come as the dog ages. I dont need to see that again. Shepherds not of the original breed standard should have been culled and not have been allowed to reproduce. I dont agree with white shepherds and I certainly dont agree with any other substitute of the ORIGINAL. And if that makes me mean so be it.
