THe positioning is not the worst I have seen, but it is not very good. However, I think these will definitely pass as O.F.A. "good" or S.V. "a" Normal.

Good Luck,

I would like to see more "neck" and a little bit tighter in the sockets, maybe a little deeper socket.  I would guess passing but Fair or fast-normal.

I might add that the way I scanned these xrays threw off the deeper socket ( funny how that happens) I scanned this one in a hurry yesterday but will try for a better one today.

Bob my vet agrees with you and this dogs prelim was OFA good too.

We will se what OFA has to say about this one as well.

The OFA Fair and the Fast Normal has me a bit confused when you compair the two as the same when I've seen mant Fast normals go OFA good. Even OFA has told me a Fast Normal is a OFA good.

They are good hips for working and breeding...period.

by eichenluft on 24 August 2010 - 12:08

I don 't normally compare fast normal with ofa good.  Yes, some fast normals go ofa good, and others go ofa borderline -  most go ofa fair in my experience.  It's really not the same system, and so not directly comparable.

Definately passing hips though no matter the rating.

DDR dog, right?

Molly's "neck" comment made me look at some of my xrays. Someone else pointed out a long time ago that there's a certain "type" hip conformation on a lot of these dogs from older lines that don't have much neck and have heavier overall conformation. I have one like that, and I can't help but wonder if it doesn't hurt them in terms of scoring, as it's not the norm or OFA's "ideal" but just because it's not the typical conformation, does that make it wrong or less healthy?

How old is this dog?

Not good. remodleing on the left hip, thickening of femeral neck and too much laxity in both. I'm going to have to say borderline or mild. (a)2 or (a)3......

per www.offa.org

note:
borderline equates to fast normal
mild equates to noch zugelassen

but its all subjective!

I am guessing the dog is ddr or Czech? This is the norm for them IMO short thick necks big heavy made hips. I would retake before sending to OFA postioning is not good
