Jeff I based my conclusion that you and Stephanie were the same person from things that were said a long time ago on Working Dog Forum when she made an appearance there.  Her  writing  "style" is very distinctive,  and when coupled with the fact that when she first started posting here regarding Hold & Bark she basically parroted you word for word,  lead me to the conclusion that you and she were the same person.   Now I realize she's just been brainwashed....kidding !!!!!

However; I stand corrected, you and Stephanie obviously are not the same person.  My apologies.

 >>>Steph, so far many of you comparisons really don't apply to the topic of discussion.
The video of Bart demonstrating LIVE to a group of people how he does a retrieve is not the same as someone putting together text to post here.  Physical demonstration while monitoring it's application is far better than putting words on paper and expecting someone to grasp technique.

Well Mr. Dud here's the problem: You want to say how you teach the retrieve without actually saying how you teach the retrieve. Whether it is because you feel you may be held in some way ethically responsible for misapplication of your explanation or if it is because your wife has a hissy fit if you give away free training advise doesn't really matter. The method does not belong to you just because you pass it along. Someone's success or failure using it is theirs, not yours.

So why don't you have any video like Mr. Bellon's? Since us dummies won't be able to grasp the technique via written word I mean.

Whats the point in showing a video of a step by step in dog training. I think everyone here has thrown a tennis ball for a dog and has held a leash. We all know there are plenty of factors involved in training. not all dogs are the same. they have different drives and we as handlers have different ways of approaching this topic.  Watching videos whether if they are good or bad, we can make an assessment on how the handler was able to get the dog work. We either learn something or say its a piece of $hit. Its hard to take sides to topic without seeing a demo. show a video already so we can see what you are talking about.  I will wait for it as I hold my breath.

I have a video of me teaching my parrot to eat out of my mouth, did you want to see a step by step on that?

Bottomline, I dont think its fair or right to argue and fight with anyone on the internet without showing a video and explaining yourself. I would really like a video with a wicked soundtrack. That way i can bop my head up and down or raise my arms side to side while enjoying the video.

Sorry for being harsh. Im just sad that we lost one of the best rappers ever today. RIP NATE DOGG!

If you want a really nice retrieve you need to learn how to do it in person, plain and simple, not over the internet.  Don't know one person who trained their dog to any title over the internet.

I used to use forced retrieve years ago, it worked to a certain degree, I was never 100% happy with dog`s state of mind.
The motivational way is the more challenging way imo.I find it more exciting to outsmart the dog , rather than giving physical corrections, not an easy task, but I find it very rewarding.
Here is a little video, showing my Mali "Momo" half the way through of the retrieve exercise, still a lot to do, but we are getting there.
All the best
