The reactor  did not explode and there has not been a meltdown, yet.  According to the news.

From the AP.  The building, not the reactor itself.

Well thank goodness for that.  When I heard there was an explosion I thought it was the reactor.

F,
I agree and I live in NM.

I wonder though, how much is being left unsaid........

Like, " the leaking radiation decreased after the explosion"......OK.......why???

Even their Chief Cabinet Secretary did not offer an explanation.

This story isn't over either. I too, worry about statements that mention leaking radiation and unknown amounts, in the same sentence.

I was pregnant with my son when 3 Mile Island happened, & we lived downwind, I remember how scared I was. We didn't know what to believe. My son called me to ask if I thought he & his wife were in danger in Portland, Oregon. What do you say? He said he doesn't trust statements from the Japanese government or our own, I didn't either when 3 Mile Island was happening, but what do you do? I bought some K+ iodide tabs (from amazon, so far they're in stock) & had them shipped to him, every store in Portland was sold out. But would our government really attempt to alert the massive numbers of people that could potentially be affected by something like this? I told my son that if he had any university friends, perhaps they could prevail upon their science departments to do some independent air & water testing to reassure people. Or pack up his stuff & move home,.... wife, mother-in-law, dog, cat, & all!  That would work for me, I miss my boy, & his 'crew' are welcome! It'd be a tight fit, but we'd make it work somehow! jackie harris
