well, seeing as how the comments i posted 2 months ago aren't up yet, i guess this is the recourse left to me to warn people about a "breeder/importer" named mike madrone. this man, aka "vom haelden", has imported GSD to the US, then neglected to pay the ppl in europe for the dogs. as a result, i personally have a pup that's unregisterable w/AKC--he has never paid for the dam of the litter. now that the crap has hit the fan, his website's down, he doesn't respond to emails, and guess what? he doesn't seem to feel the need to hold up his end of a purchase agreement!! there's a surprise! buyer beware--he'll screw you if you give him a chance.

not just that but he also imported two pups from a breeder in germany and never actually paid for the pups. that leaves a friend of mine with having paid a pretty good penny for a dog that has no papers. this is not hearsay but i have been in touch with the breeder myself and so this is first hand knowledge.

I, too, have a friend who has fallen victim to this breeder/kennel and his terribly unethical practices. He owns a brother to Chuck's Bronk vom Haelden so he's in the same boat as chuck.
And additional problem is this: my friend is expecting a litter from his male due within the next couple of weeks(end of May 2007), only to now be horrified to know he cannot AKC register his litter with his superb quality black Hungarian import female due to this problem (my friend wasn't aware he had been swindled until recent). It not only hurts the quality of his male, but also the litter he's expecting. A litter without papers is only worth a fraction of it's value. He was told by the breeder his AKC papers would be sent to him after he paid several hundreds of dollars for his male puppy...and he's been patiently waiting for months for AKC papers I guess he will now never get. It's such a shame. It pays to research before purchasing, and check for referrals from breeders prior to considering purchasing from them, but that still doesn't make what's been done to these unexpecting clients right

ripoffreport.com is a good place to put this guy.

Also, I've learned NEVER to have a litter without paperwork being done first.  Even if you get everything submitted, akc can lose it, say they never got it (yet they cashed my check) and it could be months before it gets straightened out.  Have all your duckies in a row first.

But yes, check referrals.
