Saxon is rumoured to be undergoing assessment by an outside expert today. Thie does not mean he is home free, we need to keep the momentum of this campaign going. The Wales Argus covered the story yesterday, the BBC Website is running the story. The Western News, BBC Wales TV, ITN Wales, and Sky news have all said they will cover the story. The Guardian and the Mirror have both asked for info and promissed cover when they have space (in short supply due to Israeli/Lebanon conflict). Please post links to the petitions on other sites, forums and boards, especially those which are not GSD/dog related, because the press is mightily impressed by the global furore this campaign has kicked off. Also keep emailing the Gwent force lets take their server down again. Saxons family have been inundated with calls and are bearing this with great fortitude lets all hope they get some good news soon. Almost forgot - There is a campaign and petition in Holland asking breeders to refuse to sell dogs to the British police, I think this may result in other police forces putting pressure on Gwent. C.

Yahoo! Yahoo! Yahoo! This is super lets hope he gets to retire with the handler. Good job people. Radical send me the petition site again I will forward it to some more contacts I have one being the War Dog Memorial People from which I am a member of...they fought tooth and nail to change our goverment and the leaving of service dogs behind and now they are retrieved along with the soldier but in World War 2 and the Vietnam War they too were either put to sleep or left and this group fought our governament to change this and also to build a retirement and adoption center for these dogs. I know this group will take this cause up for sure and they have a powerful voice. Marlene AlabamaK9

Wouldn't a more proper evaluation of Saxon take place after being permitted to go home with the handler's family for a week or so? He's been kenneled for three months now, and who knows whats been going on. According to the handler's wife, Saxon was a member of their family off duty. Being kenneled for all this time could have taken its toll on any dog---but on a German Shepherd..especially one that has a great bond with one master. I would just rather see a more level playing field for an honest evaluation.

just in case anyone has any lingering doubts about Saxon's alledged aggression to a kennel maid (story put out by police) the following was posted today on another site: The latest from someone who knows Saxon well. Hi It's ************* the old kennel maid as you used to call me from Glascoed. Hope you remember me!! I've just seen the article about Saxon in the Argos. I'm really sorry your facing this awful situation. I couldn't believe it when I read it, I'm heartbroken to think of Saxon being put down. You know he was my favourite police dog and always looked forward to looking after him when you put him in the kennels. He's such a good working police dog and has the softest heart of them all. If there is anything I can do to help the situation I will, just let me know what I can do. Hope you get the right decision
