Steve I do web design and have done a number of dog related sites but I think the best cheap option is to use something like Weebly.  I think you purchase your domain/site (like www.stevesdogs.com) but then you can create the site for free with Weebly.  Normally you have to purchase a domain AND pay someone or some company for the design and the hosting.  The other nice thing about Weebly is that it is web-based, you can do it from any computer with Internet access and don't need special software.  I haven't used it myself but my brother is a professional fishing guide and uses Weebly for his web site.  It's pretty basic but looks nice, easy to navigate, and easy for him to update regularly.  I am going to make a new site for a new dog training club and will be using Weebly because it is so much faster, even though I have some powerful, expensive software for web design.

Hey Steve, You can also use a place like Homestead.com. I use it for my shop. It's like 5 bucks a month. Easy to update and change once you figure out how to use there site. Not to bad, I know very little about computers as well. LOL    Hope this helps.   Take Care   Pete

if you want to do a scalable website get it done professionally if you cant do it yourself or do it by reading online manuals. A wordpress website would be the best in case you want to do a blog and write online journals. Most of the cheap do it yourself will not give you bandwidth enough to scale your site in case you want to really make ita power tool and enhance and add features. If you just want a web presence then go by previous suggestions

good luck

I was with homestead four years before I was shown by a good friend how and why I was being screwed. Steve please pm me if you are interested in free and easy to do quick website idea on how I solved the issue after going through two other types of websites and having poor service with them I gave up and now do this way. All my website cost me was the domain price of 8 dollars usa And it is super easy to maintain and basic skills friendly.
