Brittany has done a wonderful job trying to save Saxon and keeping this board united in efforts. It is refreshing to see us come together in a joint endeavor. Good job done lets hope we make a difference. Does anyone know since the officer's family has asked for help how the Gent PD are treating them?

I do apperiate the encouragement that I've been recieving from you guys... however I do not deserve the full credit into trying to save K9 Saxon from being destoryed... It is *YOU* guys that deserve that 2 thumbs up. What I did was probably the same as the rest of you guys... I must say THANKS to David Payne from Videx German Shepherds for posting this story up. After I've read his copied and pasted story (Same as whats on the petition) I've bascially felt that that the Gwent police department had flipped me off! Yes I actually felt that they gave me the FINGERS! I become aggressive when I'm flipped off (BEWARE of flipping me off during traffic, hahahaha!) I personally know of a retired German Police dog of whom the reason why they retired him was that the dog didn't have "enough drives" while I'm sitting there watching this dog do SUPER protection work and wonder "what kind of drives is he lacking of?!??!" This Police dog is extremely sweet and kind off field. He LOVES children and LOVES being in the center of attention. He is a SWEET dog in general. He maybe that ugly dark sable but inside he had a good heart! I betcha K9 Saxon has a good heart as well :) He doesn't need to be destoryed.

Brittany, No question, your efforts won't be soon forgotten--as well as so many others who took the time to see the injustice and act. Alabamak9's thoughts concerning the Townley family should also be considered. If no one is going to ask, I will. What is being done to prevent Gwent officers (that is, those involved in this monumental farce) from going into the kennels and antagonizing Saxon sufficiently enough so that his temperament is compromised for the evaluation next week? The fact "the powers that be" let this travesty continue tells me we're dealing with immense egos here, and only intensifies my belief that their judgment is no longer creditable. Mr. Townley and his family made an honorable and courageous decision to make saving Saxon's life their #1 priority; but, no matter what the outcome, there will be a price to pay for him. There are some who wouldn't go this route, knowing full well their livelihood might be put in jeopardy. He deserves the full respect and support from everyone who comes to this website. He also deserves, AT LEAST, a fair evaluation. I enquired before, and I'll ask it again-- Why can't Saxon go home with Joy Townley for the next few days and REALLY chill out? Certainly, that would be the ethical course of action. When all's said and done, it was inspiring to see so many who supported this dog, but it will be all for nothing if these fools manage to get an improper evaluation and kill him. Truthfully, I hate to say it, but the petitioners who are pleading for Saxon's life are going to get nowhere. These pleas, although commendable, are just falling on deaf ears. There was no compassion shown before, and they won't accomplish a better outcome now. Gwent officials understand and fear only one thing---bad publicity, and how it will effect them personally. Probably a new topic should be started, such as "NEAR GWENT?". A central location, like a hotel or diner should be chosen---a date and time given for any one interested to meet and discuss a strategy (perhaps Tuesday evening, 7pm). Perhaps a course of action, such as--meet Wed, 1pm (afternoon) with your dog and protest signs. Location--Gwent police building--Don't forget to call media and have them present with TV cameras. (Birdy was correct.) It's just a suggestion. It would be wonderful if people would just do the right thing. I'm sorry to say, in this situation, "Checks and Balances" are definitely indicated. P.S.--Didn't mean to imply petitioners' "pleas" were in vain---just feel "demands" would accomplish more with this mentality.

LMH Your point about Saxon's being 'wound up' befor his assessment have been aired on another site: http://protectionk9.proboards24.com/index.cgi and many people are concened that the assessment will not be fair and equitable, we also still need some legal advice. But be assured there is much going on behind the scenes, other police forces are bringing pressure to bear on Gwent regarding their position over this. there are also large organisations working behind the scenes including the GSD Breed council, national canine defence league, and the Animal Liberation League. Last Night Caroline Townley- Mikes wife- was interviewed on Radio, and the media momentum is being kept up. The Petitions will be used if the outcome of the assessment is negative and rest assured that if that happens the gloves come off and there will be a s*** storm regarding is and other issues. C.

Thanks for the update, Radical. Yesterday, I pulled out a map of GB to see just where Gwent is located. Wish I could drive there and literally voice my opposition--very frustrating. Gwent has a lot riding on the outcome of Saxon's evaluation. Im relieved to hear there are others with the same concerns as myself. I'll be checking back throughout the day for more updates. Thanks again, L.
