4pack

I noticed my dog panting while just laying in her bed inside with the A/C on. She has seemed rather off the past 4 days but that isn't unusual for her, as she has her ups and downs due to poor condition, since I purchased her. I have never noticed the panting with her change in attitude, so I decided to take her temp and it read 105.3. What is the normal range for a dogs temp and how bad is hers? I'm ready to call the vet.

Normal is 101 - 102. Call the vet right now, the dog is sick. You might want to buy the Merck Veterinary Manual so you can learn about stuff like that rather than wait for a response on an internet board. 4pack, time is of the essence when a dog spikes a temp of 105. Get it done...............

The normal temperature for an adult dog is 100 F to 102.5 F, with an average of 101.3 F. If it's below 99 F, or above 104 F, take it again. If you have a second theremometer, that can also be helpful for confirmation. If the temp is still in these ranges, your dog needs to see the vet.

Wheeew I took it again, it read 100.8. I will do it again in a little bit. I already called the vet after I posted here. My vet had no openings, so I will have to call around if need be. Thanks for the responses.

Buy that manual, 4 pack. Every dog owner should have one.

Will due Blitzen. I already have 2 emergency kits for my dogs, one for home and one for the truck. I'm pretty anal about my dogs health since they can't tell me what doesn't feel right. I'm affraid if I start browsing a book like that, I will think they all have everything under the sun. :o

Yes, I have the "Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook" that I happened to find at Petsmart. I say it is very handy to have around, The Mereck Veterinary Manual is very good too though.

Well thanks for the reminder guys. I just so happen to be socializing puppies down at the pet stores and mall, so I will find one or the other on my outting tonight. Just one of those things thats slips the mind, until you really need it.

Now I got a reading of 101.4. I think my digital therm was trying to give me a heart attack. I could have swore I had the Home Vet Handbook years ago. Probably one of those things that got lost durring a move. Thanks again, Michelle
