I am delighted to present the latest and final assessment of Police Dog SAXON.
Charles Wall has been very thorough and very professional in fulfilling his assessment of Saxon, I applaud his efforts and offer him sincere gratitude, firstly on behalf of Saxon himself, and secondly on behalf of ALL the thousands of animal lovers around the World who gave such fantastic support for the "SAVE OUR SAXON" campaign - they will all celebrate the outcome and the life now given to Saxon.
Gwent Police clearly have much to learn and implement from this report, which they fully recognise. They should be thanked for agreeing to a 1 month assessment with such a highly respected Dog Trainer as Charles Wall, this was EXACTLY what was needed.
It is also very clear that Saxon has been learning something, with Charles Wall, that was always likely, and as a result of Charles Wall's efforts and certainly not forgetting Saxon's own efforts, Saxon will surely enjoy the remainder of his life.
Thank you one and all

I'm so glad that his life was spared. It's good to know that "cooler" heads prevaled.

That is awsome , I think their are so many animals out there that are never given a chance because SOME people think they know it all. A great ending for SAXON ,lucky dog.

Some good news for a change regarding this dog. Kudos to all of you who helped make it happen including Brittany and her generating one of the first petitions to save this dog. We are quick to critisize, but slow to praise.

And lets not forget to thank Eddie Crouch & Katie Roberts who formed the sub committee of Gwent Animal Welfare who have worked hard in setting up this concluding assesment.
Both have both put many hours work into this over the past month, ignoring their domestic lives for the sake of the dog. We are indeed fortunate that this breed has such committed enthusiasts, and fortunate that Animal Welfare Committees are able to work with the police (rather than against them) in such circumstances.
We hope that all those interested in the dog are pleased with the outcome and that Saxon can be allowed to continue his working life, doing what he does best, away from the spotlight

This is the best side of the board.
"THANKS" to the team effort, the protestors, animal welfare, Gwenth police, Charles Wall, the news media, and lets not forget SAXON for his willigness to learn how to adjust his thinking.
There is a lesson in this for all of us, dogs that are not worked on a regluar basis become out of control teenagers with the keys to the car.
