please take a look at our dogs, there are also pic's of some of the pups, the coats all vary from pup to pup. as you said it's all down to interpretation

by Blitzen on 19 October 2006 - 21:10

That's true it is a matter if interpretation. However genetically speaking, longcoat x longcoat will always = 100% longcoats. My first GSD was a long coat and he was beautiful.

Kazeti--- I checked out your sight---it was a pleasure. Dogs are beautiful, long hair or not. More importantly, treated like family members. Immaculate environments, good homes found for puppies---well done. First time I ever read GSD property law. Perfect.

Nice web site and beautiful dogs. I bought my first LC last November (solid black male) and couldn't be happier with him.

Just curious... Is it correct to say that there are less long coats produced in working lines? Just something I've noticed through the years seeing litter ads, not sure if it's really true...If it is true, why??? Blitzen...If thats so LCxLC=100%LC then will sable x sable=100%sable??

Sable x sable does not equal 100% sable. Sable is dominant, so a dog can be sable in color but carry the gene for black and tan or solid black. If one of the parents is pure for sable, then it will produce all sable puppies, regardless of what the other parent carries. Solid black is recessive so a solid black dog only carries the black gene. Two solid black dogs bred together will produce 100% solid black puppies.
