White spots are not a disqualification. They are not desirable, but in the breed standard it states: "Inconspicuous small white chest markings, as well as lighter pigment on the inside of the legs is permitted, but not desirable." I've seen VA's with them. It's hard NOT to produce them, although I do try my best to avoid it, it is often difficult, depending on the lines you are breeding.

Thanks VFH, I was a little unsure. Quax v. Danischen Hof is an outstanding dog with deep pigmentation, yet has a sizeable and distinct blaze on his chest. Perhaps that has kept him V2. thanks,Jonah

Hi there. To my mind Quantum is today¿s leading producer. The two things that I¿d consider before mating with Quantum are: - use a female that has a dark "Maske" as Quantum is missing a bit "Maske" and some of his progeny too - and if you, as I do, prefer having dogs with a really black coat on their back be sure that¿s manifested in your females bloodline. But if looking at some of his progenies there lot of examples that you can avoid these two things by choosing the right female. Now to a point I read in this thread, I¿d say every showline dog is carrying the "longcoat-factor" as all showline dogs basically are bread over the "Würtembergische-Bloodline" and the "Würtemberger" were longcoats. And by the way, talking of white spots, please remeber that the grandfather of Horant was a white dog. So I guess it¿ll come back every now and than. Greetz Micke

How refreshing to have a breeder talk so openly and honestly about their dog's shortcomings, and all dogs have them. From your post I can tell you have integrity. I salute you. Good luck to you and your breeding program!

Greetings Micke I just do like you said. I mate Rikkor Bad-Boll daughter with very black mask and I still have a problem with mask. But I am not unsatisfied. Opposite - I am very satisfied. You can not have everything. Ideal dog is not born jet. And Quantum give me more great things then bad. For now he improve some things in my breed and real result we will see in future generation and that is no doubt that he is absolute one of the leader producer.
