It's no surprise that Iams would do this. I wouldn't buy it anyway because it's crap. This would be enough to change my mind if I did feed Iams, though.

As far as PETA is concerned, what a bunch of whack jobs. I don't do any "causes". By the time an issue has made it's way to being a "cause" it has left the hands of rational, principled people. I'm with Echomeadows,  live your life with empathy for all living things, teach it to your children, exhibit this to others and know you've made a more lasting change than anyone screaming on a street holding a poster of a dead animal.

Just my peso,

Dawg

LEARN THE TRUTH http://www.uncaged.co.uk/iams.htm "Please note that everything that either Uncaged Campaigns or PETA has said about IAMS is based on documentary and/or video evidence. Make no mistake, if anything said about IAMS really was untrue or misconstrued, as IAMS would have you believe, we would have been sued and our websites taken down. We haven't."

Good site, Videx. There are a lot of great dogfood manufacturers that may not be very big, but started out out of a love for their pet and a desire for them to have the best dogfood that would promote health and a long life (Sorry, but I don't see Proctor and Gamble being one of them). I always research them thoroughly before considering. I think the BARF diet is awesome if you can afford it.

PETA is a terrorist organization that is willing to torture, maim or kill animals in order to get their point across. They would like nothing better than to bring down the pet food industry. They believe that no animal should be held in captivity not even as a pet. Anything that has even a hint of being connected with them should be considered invalid. They are your enemy and believe the use of any animal, even as a family pet, should be stopped at all cost. AT ALL COST!! Believe that. They next time you see ridiculous pet legislation look to see if they aren't behind it. I think that this kind of post should not be ran without a serious investigation. I don't care for IAMS myself, but I think this is not responsible unless you did a very extensive fact check on it.

I find the barf diet to cost about (sometimes less than) premium dog food. The problem with raw feeding is that you really need to research and practically become an expert in nutrition. Getting the proper balance between calcium/phosphorous is so very important among other things. In my area I can purchase chicken backs for less than $9 for 30 lbs (frozen). Turkey necks are $7 for a 30 lb box. I have no problem acquiring RMBs in my area, what I encounter is a difficulty in finding muscle meat that is affordable. I have had to stop feeding solely raw diet and now feed Canidae to my dogs. I also have one dog that only does well on Diamond, I could care less about the backlash Diamond received because I've tried many different feeds and this is all she does well on. I feed what works for my dogs :) back to the IAMS thread...PETA would get more accomplished sans their extremist activity. I believe they started out with good intentions, but got out of control with extremism. They are also loosely affiliated with ALF which is certainly a terrorist group.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has come down on Iams's side on this, and the ASPCA advises Iams on their animal research. I trust PETA about as far as I can toss 'em- they have already been shown to edit videos in misleading ways and are more concerned with propaganda than with truth.

by eichenluft on 01 November 2006 - 17:11

how could anyone "edit" videos such as this - obviously animals waking up on dirty concrete floors, bloody animals on tables, animals wide-eyed and pupils dilated in fear and confusion. Employees saying "died bleeding from mouth after surgury yesterday". Close-ups of metal cage-bottoms with spaces wide enough for toes and legs to go down between bars. Editing to show this abusive treatment? I don't think so. It's in front of your eyes, yet you still deny the facts since the video was taken by PETA undercover. It's animal abuse and mistreatment, and I for one will not support such things by giving my money to an organization doing this kind of testing, no matter who took the video. molly

Oh, good grief, spooky...READ the subject...(HINT: it's about IAMS, not PETA)...I think it's obvious there is no love lost here for PETA by ANYONE on this post. The FACT is Iams has been proven to mistreat animals - Serious investigations have already been done on that...REDUNDANT REDUNDANT REDUNDANT. HELLO, McFLY! Maybe you should seriously investigate the topic before you respond... Thanks, Rellek re the BARF - yep, I know some SCHh trainers and breeders who purchase it already carefully balanced and frozen - they have voluminous amounts delivered to their door every 6 months. I've considered it, but haven't purchased my huge deep freeze yet!

GSDLVR, I noticied the tears in your eyes weren't so thick that you couldn't indorse a rival food company that you've indorsed before. I guess I'm just as skeptical of you as I am of PETA.

Who says the video are at a IAMS facility anyway? Trust Peta? NOT ME! PETA has no credability at all. Once you lose that you have nothing. It's like saying yea I lied to you yesterday but today I'm telling the truth! Peta are the people trying to outlaw working type dogs such a GSD's etc..
