I think anyone who charges $1000 for a stud to an untitled show dog with "normal prey drives" is smoking crack!

by seriously on 19 December 2006 - 00:12

that was rude too! :)

Von Brunhaus, All of your coments are ignorant. Your dog has no titles because it can't pass.

Ive bred many a pup out of untitled male or female out of Uran W and Pirol and Lord and all the rest and no the title doesnt mean all is okay but the thread is price of a v rated dog or a title deserving of the price yes if titled and the dog has progheny all over the us and germany that u can prove are from these dogs than u deserve a higher fee. I sell my pups the same way u do Brunhaus old fashion or not, its a respect too Molly and all the great breeders of titled dogs to not enter their realm and tell my customers oh this is the famous bloodline of Arminius or Weinereau or Teikerhook or make anyone believe that will quarantee any better dog than RIN TIN TIN which by the way the daughter is here in Texas that froze the semen of him and she only sells nuetered males and females so as people cannot breed her line Read that in the German Shepherd magazine Oct issue by Dog Fancy////

There is much more than bloodlines to breeding selection. Many a sieger has several siblings that are mediocre at best. Without working titles, breed surveys, etc a breeder is lacking the sort of standardized information that can expedite the otherwise long and tedious process of careful and informed stud selection.Jonah

Vom Brunhaus, With all due respect and this is not meant to be a rude reply but...... Is that the only reason why your dog is worth breeding with such high stud service cost? because hes the son of VA Hill farbenspiel? If thats the fact then we are in serious trouble with the breed. Already the german showlines are turning into AKC standard shepherds as far the drives. Please PLEASE and PLEASE listen to eichenluft. She knows a hell of alot more about proper breeding than you. Besides fighting with her... learn from her from her experience with breeding and titling. Since we are all dog owners... we tend to think that our dogs are the best.. well the harsh reality is that you have to prove that your dog is the best and to do that, you must go to shows and trials to get your dog known by others.

Titles are nice, but from strictly a breeding standpoint they really don't mean all that much (I'm talking about real working dogs here) A good trainer can make a total piece of shit nerve bag look great on a trial field. Genetics behind the dog, what the dog really is, and most important, WHAT THEY PRODUCE. This is what to look for.

My male is V rated, SchH3, FH2, Kkl1 lbz. He is a VA Orbit v Tronje son. His stud fee is $800. I feel that is sufficient for his titling and pedigree. Anyone can charge whatever they want to charge for a stud fee. This is a free-market society. You only get what someone else feels something is worth paying that much for. If Brunhaus can get $20,000 per stud out of an untitled dog, good for him. My guess is that he does not have people lining up to breed to his dog, and maybe that's the point. ;) People who think they can make money studding out their dogs are in for a rude awakening. Even those TOP PRODUCERS in the US probably aren't making a whole lot. So many people are importing dogs that everyone has something to breed to (mostly), and only those people who are looking for something specific and don't want to breed to the same dog in their yard on every heat of their females go to the outside studs. How many times do you see "repeat breedings"??? Mostly just from people who have ONE stud dog. Just my opinion.
