Molly, I see nothing wrong with raising 2 littermates togeather. There are many positive benefits of doing so. If you are selling to a one pet / only dog forever home, I can see a person trying or making sure the pet is the only one. If it is a knowledgeable person with positive reasons for wanting to raise a pair together, what is the problem with that? Martin

I myself am a small town breeder, but I never look at the pocket book of the buyer. My first and only concern is where my pups are going and who their going to. I ask a lot of questions when I get people wanting a pup and sometimes it drives them away, but those are logical questions I ask, if they go away then in my opinion they were not serious. I agree with everyone here, if I put a deposit down on a puppy and then find out it was sold behind my back with a deposit down, I personally would be outraged and not return to the same breeder. I have had families by 1-2 puppies, but they still have them and they have a permanent loving home. I honestly think you should have asked this question when they were interested in both litters. Now the puppies can go anywhere, and probably not all in good homes.

Amen, Molly. You know so far this month I've either heard or been involved in a bunch of messes all caused by people who don't give a damn about their dogs. 65 sleddogs in need of homes all owned by the same people who intend to shoot them all in the head if we can't rehome them in a few weeks. all 65 of them.....19 others in a similar situation in another state... a beautiful young GSD bitch confiscated in a cruelty case where she was beat over the back with a baseball bat til she could no longer move her back legs. Who knows for how long she dragged herself around. She is one of the lucky ones that has found herself a caring group who are trying to rehab her, she will probably need a cart. Her temperament is wonderfule and she is happy for the first time in her 5 years. Then that other poor bitch some may already know about, kept tied up by some moron who didn't even care that the tether was wrapped so tightly around her rear leg that it eventually became gangerous. Still her moron owner did nothing till she chewed off her own foot to release herself. A kind hearted vet saved this litte sweetie, amputated the bad leg and she's getting around great looking for a forever home. Then I sign on here and read about 2 entire litters being sold to the same person and the breeder wondering why the buyer wanted all those puppies. I think I'll just stop here becasue I know I will get blasted by someone who thinks it's just fine and dandy to sell entire litters and to breed 2 litters at a time and not keep one damned puppy for yourself.

Ana, Once you have accepted a deposit, you have entered a legal contract to sell the puppy to the depositor. You sold the puppy with a payment plan. Having accepted a deposit, then to sell, the already sold puppies is not only unethical and wrong, but illegal. You could have legal repercussions because of your actions. Martin

I persnally called and asked each person who had a deposit if it was alright and not a one had a problem and all 3 are my relations and I was going to keep back females with them for breeding so there was no problem delaying for a while. I sold each pupp for $1250 so not cheap and I have contract on no resale without my right of last refusal; these pupps are going to be trained for security and protection work. I just am not clear why for something so particular why you just dont choose 2 or 3 puppies instead of all of them. I asked and he said you cant tell much so young butI think you should be able to see some traits.

It is pretty clear that not only were the buyers ignorant to say it was OK based on the fact that you apparently are more money driven to even want to sell someone an entire litter without asking clear, concise questions on what working enviroments and type of care these pups will get. Stuff like this makes me livid. You get on here and ask us YET you didn't ask many probing questions to the buyer on why he was buying the entire litter and where the pups will be going and how he was going to ensure all of these pups would get proper care shows exactly why you cared little about the welfare of the pups and more about the size of your pockets. Clear ignorance like this gets the responses it needs. And to breed several litters again simply because the pups will sell faster? It doesn't get more insane than this. What if the traits on the pups are not favorable and the working quality is poor? What if there are other health issues as a result of this breeding that could signal a "bad mix of blood"? If you're not asking yourself any of these questions, then perhaps you should sell every brood bitch you have. You've given enough context clues that signal you are breeding for all the wrong reasons.

I don't buy a word of your last post above.... your first post was clearely a "question" of what this person wants the pups for. **Puke**

by Mosemancr on 24 December 2006 - 16:12

Thats sad. I think Id be really upset if I had been waiting all that time to get a pup, something I had planned for and then not get her. Those who put the deposit down probably also went out and bought a cute little collar as well as some toys for thier new puppy. I think you may have just ruined Christmas for some people, ruined, Christmas...Christmas. Sad sad day.

...wait... is this a bait thread to get all our panties in a bunch before the holiday?

Blitzen I am a relative novice but am partnered with some of the most experienced in the business in term of breeding and SV lines. I ask here once in a while because I always ask too many question of my partners. You must see lots of bad in your life with your volunteer work but dont paint me or everyone else with the same brush. You have made an uneducated and ignorant remark, unlike the others who asked questions and then you wonder why you become a target here. Dont assume Blitzen. I can assume by your past remarks that you are a big mouthed, uneducated, pretend do-gooder. If you have a question ask it. The gentleman's stud I used had me sign a very strict contract on where and to who the pupps could go and I had to get his approval before I made the sale and I by his contract must know physical location and condition of each pupp for life.
