It's not usually the isolated areas in the US that have the problems with violent crime.. It is usually our inner cities, areas of poverty that have the high crime rate, that would require people to have firearms for protection.. The majority of rural areas, do have just a shot gun or such hunting rifle types.. I'm not sure why the media has portrayed the US to be a bunch of violent, gun crazed people and our LE is running around killing pets and innocent people..?? It's not a COMMON thing.. When it happens it is all over, everywhere.. Yes, when it happens to just one innocent person or pet, it is a horrible thing.. But accidents do happen, we don't live in a perfect world, anywhere.. I'm sure the pet's owner and the homeowner of the incorrect house has filed an ample lawsuit, which they have every right, and will be settled by the agency who was responsible in that screw up.. Unlike what the media wants everyone to believe, LEOs who are found to be guilty of not following protocol or their sworn duties, are punished.. They are held accountable.. Yes there are  instances of unjust rulings, but every country has issues with their judicial system..
Think about it, out of every LE agency, every arrest, every call every officer in all branches of LE deal with, every second of the day, how many are executed in correct, safe protocol, as opposed to the mess ups that happen? Do we hear about LEO saving lives, helping people, even in small ways? Not really.. But oh yeah, everyone hears about when something bad happens..

Erin, you sweetie! You don't know what kind of cow paddy you've been dumped in!

I advise you get a nice cool glass of iced tea, grab some chicken feed and wait a bit. Let the PDB board of experts tell all the LEO's what they need to learn and do, and say and think, and feel in any dangerous situation.  Especially the OP. They really have the best advice for everyone's puppy safety.

Aren't we having fun now.....lol

While we're at it,
I think the title Puppycide says it all, points directly at the target audience.

No bashing just a fact, there are too many people in positions of authority (armed) who should not be.
And it's not a matter of poor training.

I guess your familiar with the young boy shot to death over a toy gun, seven times.

I got my new holster moments ago by the way.......:)

Yes, and what a stupid choice of a toy for a parent to buy and give their tween kid, such a realistic looking replica. And then think nothing of him to take a walk down the highway brandishing it all the way. But of course, blame the cops who were shitting their pants, that it was an "Adam Lanza" possibility in their path.

I suppose those parents live under a rock, and that is no crime.

I think it's being investigated as a racial thing now Bee.
I think someone tried to cover something up, imagine that.
I read where they are tearing down the school, money's flowing once more.

Well I just have my opinion, not only based on my family and friends being in different LE agencies, and knowing what type of people they are, but also on personal experiences..
Years ago I rear ended a van, I had my Doberman with me.. He had weak nerves and was a biter.. Bad combo lol.. Anyways, the CHP who responded to the call, waited with me and my dog, trying to calm him enough for him to get the leash.. I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, that guy sat there with my dog lunging and biting at him, until he was able to get him to calm down enough to put him in his patrol car.. He took the dog to my sister's house, instead of shooting him, or having animal control take him in.. He would have been justified in shooting my dog, to be able to get me medical care, but he didn't..
I also had a sheriff deputy  shoot one of my dogs, on my property and leave her injured, under my porch.. With no attempt to notify the homeowner or dog owner.. He claimed she was a stray, and neighbors called him, saying she was a stray and did not belong to the property.. So I had a bad experience also.. I didn't condemn all LE, I took up the issue with that particular idiot..
I guess it bothers me to have people bash our LE, when these people put their lives in danger to keep us safe.. Sure there are jerks in every profession, but I hate when people put them all down, without knowing what these officers go through, on a daily basis.. And for not so great pay..

Bee has summed this thread up accurately - Gigante is the go-to guy for LEO bashing on the PDB. He's picking the scab again.
